Phillips are NOT good.
IMO: stick to a nice set of monitor headphones. preferably some of the higher end sony range! :D good luck with your purchase

Sennheisers and Sonys seem to work well, got friends & family who swear by them
(especially for longhaul flights - works great for continuous droning background noise).
Might have to fork out $300+ for anything decent though.
"Over-the-Ear" aviator style muffs usually work better than the less-chunky ones too.

sennheisers have a ****ty build quality tho i feel on the cheaper model ones
you best bet is to go to somewhere like video pro and test out a heap of them and see what you like first

BOSE are apparently pretty good.
