ok i went through my receipts to check how many kms i had travelled on my current tyres.

Fronts: Hankook 235/45/R17's, now 15 000kms old and still have about 80% tread left.
Rears: Nankang 235/45/R17's, now 28 000kms old (have been on the rear the last 15 000kms), and about 10% tread left.

Weirdly, the Nankangs are the second set of tyres i have had where they seem to wear just as fast, if not faster, on the rear as they did on the front. I will have to get 2 new tyres soon and im thinking about just putting them straight onto the rears and keeping the 80% hankooks on the front, as i dont want to put the Hankooks (which have worn really well) on the rear and have them wear out quick

I VERY rarely spin the wheels, screech off the line, etc...

anyways, how long have peoples tyres lasted them, and not just a guess. Before looking at my receipts my guess would of been way off on how long mine have lasted!

It's odd for the rears to wear out quicker than the fronts, are the backs wearing even or just on the insides? Had the back alignment checked lately? Mind you I’ve never had more than 20,000k’s out of a front set of low-profile tyres :)

ditto..... mine last about a year. but i really like the Hankooks, they are a good value for money, all round tyre..... better than these stupid Nankangs i've got now......

last set were Dunlop LE Mans and got 16-18,000 km's out of em, but that was with a fair bit of "spirited" driving, no burnouts ffs its a FWD... lol waste of time ;)

new ones are Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, done about 5000 clicks on em, and they are still at about 75% with even more "spirited" driving, and they grip better wheee

nope wearing evenly, and i get allignment fairly regularly. I guess I cant complain when they have lasted nearly 30 000kms.

The way my Hankooks are going they might last 40 000kms. Good tyre except BLOODY noisy, so I think I will go with something different next time.

Mine have about 50% tread left with 7,500km's done..

My previous car had done 22,000kms and needed replacing.

Last set of Falken Azenis lasted 25KKms; currently 12KKms on Michelin Pilots and only around 30% worn so pretty happy with that. (Or maybe I just don't visit the Spurs often enough these days).

I just had my tires rotated.

Nankang Ultra sport 18s.

After about 10,000km the now backs (were fronts) are worn on the shoulders and could be defectable. The fronts (were backs) are about 70%, with very little wearing of the shoulders. My guess is a lot of it has to do with my driving style (or lack of), plus tI was told to keep them at 34 PSI from some shop, but where I bought them recommends I keep them at 40 PSI. Since they're wearing on the shoulders, 40PSI it is.

I got 17" Falken 235x45xr17's.. my last set I got 32000km to and they were dangerously smoothe.. not happy how more expensive tyres die quicker.. but my old bridgestones stockos got 65000km out of them and still have about 10,000km til it hits the legal tread mark.. huge difference. Also not happy with the Falken's grip/handling.. definitely changing brands next round.

MMM.. ive had my 245/35/20`s for four weeks and ive already had them rotated as ive done 5000kms.. u can already see the wear patterns in the rear because of the camber.. the fronts are wearing pretty even... Good old Nankangs... :D

Don't know how you guys do it  . I got 48,000 out of the Pirellis and I'll get about the same out of the Bridgestone GIIIs. Both sets have had track work also.

Must be because I'm on 17's and drive so smoooth :bowrofl:

Ego mate you need to get into whiteline and order a shim kit for your rear end. Man i had dramas with my 18's kept getting them aligned but still wore them out. With the whiteline kit you can have two different size washers that give different degree ( think ones 5 other is 3) but i ended up using both and no probs since. Also thru in an anti-lift kit up front with a camber pin and gets a quicker take off

P6000s are a crap tyre that don't grip that well, that's why (GIIIs too).

More expensive tyres = more grip = faster wear. Fact of life. Lucky you didn't buy the Falken Azenis realsports where most people get around 15KKms per set on a large car like Magnas. (Sounds like you bought the entry level Ziex tyres if you think the grip is poor).

How many kilometres did you get out of your P6000s and GIIIs?

Hate to break it to u.. Aint gunna help me..

For starters my rear tyres are 2 inches under the guards and you cant get half a finger between guard and rubber.. got no chance of any camber shims.. u will understand when u see car.. :D

Have been runnin the yokohama AVS DB's V550 series (decibels)
Nice quiet tire with pretty good handling wet & dry and lasted a good 35-40k.
Now stepping to top and have fresh AVS V102's Top performance yoki's unless i can slap on some semi slick race tires. Steering feels lighter and sticks very very well you just have to make sure that the tires are warm. Not sure on how long these will last.

Ive originally put turanza's on my car and found that they only lasted about 20k and were not very good in the wet, after this i spoke to the guys at the local bob jane letting them know that i wasnt happy after they told me that they were the best tyre for the price... anyway, long story short, i started using 2nd hand tyres, i picked up a set of near new (apparently only 5000k's old) set of goodyear eagle f1's and they have been the best tyre i have ever put on a car so far. they grip well wet or dry, and ive done just over 30k on them and they are at about still about 25%. Not bad for $75 each! :)

This is for 225/55/16 though, i dont know if its any different for lager wheels

Goodyear F1 GSD-2s are a pretty good budget performance tyre, but I'm really surprised you only got 20KKMs out of Turanzas. We call them "plastic" tyres because they usually last forever, like a good 50KKMs if you rotate them, run at correct pressures, and maintain your wheel alignment.

Yeah, well i keep the pressure's around 40, and get the aligntment every 10k, and balance/rotation every 5k, however, im just realy hard on tyres... hmm, plastic tyres.... that would explain why taking off in the wet in second was still a pointless exercise.... fun though

The reason the Nankangs have worn like crap is that they are a terrible tyre. I cant wait to replace mine. Mine also wear fast on the rear too, yet no other tyre has.
