hi guys/girls

im pleased to say that ive finally had the TF lowered with new 17" rims and a sports exhaust..extractors are next :P

What im looking at doing now is removing the badges, im pretty sure that the "V6" and "executive" badge is just double sided tape which should be easy enough to remove, but does anyone know if the symbol and "Magna" badge have any pegs behind them or are they just tape aswell?

Cheers

This has been covered a few times before, but here is what I did with mine... it is glue not tape... and bloody gooey stuff to boot... you need to heat it up.

Using a hair dryer to heat the glue under the badges (careful not to melt the plastic coating of the badge itself) bit by bit then using plastic scrapers (4 for $5 at a paint shop) to lift the heated badge bit by bit, re-applying the heat, then lifting gently until the badges were off. The flexible badges you had to be careful not to stretch (if you wish to keep the badges of course) and the hard badges you had to be careful not to break or split. I did split the tri-diamond badge a little but it was pretty old and worn anyway. After I removed all the badges there was a lot of stubborn glue still on the paint work... I bought K+H Wax & Grease Remover (aka prepsol) from Repco and applied liberally with a clean rag, carefully used the plastic scraper to remove stubborn/hardened lumps of glue then once the glue was removed, washed the area and gave it a cut and polish.
And here is a pic of my car for the hell of it... lol

just grab a hair dryer and some dental floss, heat up badged with hair dryer, keep it moving, and then use the dental floss to cut thorugh the glue. Ive done it to mine and it looks a lot better i think

Dont bother with the hairdryer.

Just grab your dental floss or fishing line, hold the line like a garrote and slide it in along the back of the badge.

Grab some teatree oil and rub off all the good.

You may also want to give it a quick wax to match the shinyness with the rest of the car.

Ive done it to my VRX (total debadge of the car), my XR6 Turbo and my girlfriends TR + some mates cars.

sorry bout that, was referring to the hard mitsubishi badge, just needed to know if there were any pegs behind it or if it was just glue as well.
