All:

I've recently aquired an FSE fuel pressure regulator from RPW and decided this afternoon that I work out what's involved in fitting it. I've pretty much figured out what's involved except for where the hell I'm going to mount the regulator in the engine bay.

I've used the search function and the closest thing I could find to pic on one installed was in this thread (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15614&highlight=fuel+pressure+regulator) which unfortunately doesn't help me much (cant see how the hell it's secured).

My search results would seem to indicate that there are quite a few members out there with these units fitted so if someone could please post up a pic of where there regulator is mounted and a couple of quick notes on what they found was required in fitment it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I normally mount the regulator on the firewall using on of the spare bolts that aren't being used. The return line fits straight up to the regulator and the new hose easily reaches from the fuel rail on the vehicle to the firewall underneath the air intake piping.

Mount it just to the right of the throttle body works a treat.

it is a good idea to get a fuel pressure guage fitted to it.

not the best position meh, as the regulator is subject to the vibration of the engine, and therefore the four bolts need to be tightened more often.

Thanks Dave, just to clarify - do you mean the bolts aprox 100mm to the right of the compliance plate, up high on the firewall? or do you mean down lower?

Meh - it doesn't look like yours has a pressure guage fitted, or if it does it must be in an inconvenient place. If you could take a closer pic that would be great - but I intend to fit the pressure guage to mine.

Bah - might end up getting it fitted professionally yet, braided hoses and all, depending on the hip pocket.

mine's in the same spot..

Hmmmmm...... Any particular reason why the guage isn't visable?

There's no gauge, just the regulator.. it looks different to Meh's picture cos I've got the Sports plastic engine cover (that's been neatly trimmed to accomodate the FPR).

I have fitted units to both the manifold and to the firewall. The three bolts on the rh side are the ones I use. You file out the two bolt holes in the universal sheet of tin, bend it 90 degrees and it works perfect there.

The guages I recomend because the FPR units can vary slightly time to time and this allows you to set it and keep an eye on it. I normally check mine every 3 - 4 weeks and sometimes may need to do a minor tweak.

Greetings All.

Hi SEON...that would be a catch can...

Also, all those that have FPR fitted...did they make a difference??

Cheers,

Mine did.. without it I'd have been running super lean at WOT because of all my mods. Can't tell you whether the 'rising rate' aspect did anything though since I didn't have it fitted until I got my cams and whatnot.

Thanks Tonba,

A catch can, is that a turbo car? does a N/A car uses a catch can. DUMB questions i know......

I just bought a FSE Malpassi FPR too......just haven't fit it.... :D

Anyone got fitting guide for a TS?

alot of turbo cars use catch cans as they tend to have more blow-by then N/A cars.....

but yes u can put one on a N/A car.......whether it does much thats another story.

I changed to a Sard regulator and had to retap one of the holes as the hole for the gauge was a different thread and that was the one I needed to attach to the rail etc.,
