If i rig up some description of ram air with my CAI will I run into any fuel mixture problems or such? This is without an aftermarket ECU because i cant afford one of them right now. Im only asking because I ran into a thread where someone said they had problems.

Oh and yeah, can someone give me the part numbers for the pod and the adaptor. when I went to supercheap he looked at me like id asked him for a soccerball filled with toothpaste.

Your air filter will get much dirtier but that's about it. Ram air only gives around 5% more power at the best, in factory designed systems with windtunnel testing, let alone a DIY job. Won't have any effect on fuel mixtures that the ECU can't handle.

I have a ram air intake of sorts. Handy improvement esp in fuel economy. Enjoy.

u would need to be going over 300km/h before the "RAM AIR" effect produces even 0.1psi of boost.

So no i cannot imagine it would cause any problems with fuel mixtures.

T-man, Never ever use my real name again. Id change it to Delphia if it wouldnt result in endless arguments from mom.

Well I would do it and i plan on it but since im not working full time any more the cash situation is not exactly friendly. Im asking now because she goes in for a major service tomorrow and if my mechanic thinks it needs a new filter im gonna tell him not to cause im gonna pod it up soon.

Yep, agree there. Even 5 % is plenty. Obviously it all depends on the design and size etc, but I have front facing bellmouth in mine and works well.
Samurai's claim of speed of 300 km/h is required before it's beneficial is not quite correct, much lesser speed works. Think of driving on highest gear at 70 km/h - medium speed, but very low revs. Engine air speed is lesser than the car speed, which actually makes the front facing scoop/bellmouth to push the air in with very minor force. No, not turbo or S/C force, but better than nothing.
I like that pic there with the jet engine.... way to go! lol

mines a 2nd gen so ill take pics as im doing it.

I got quoted $500 for moving the battery to the boot by an auto electirican. so i went about finding a way to do it. I found a way, gotta talk to an engineer before i do it tho as it involved cutting metal.

My claim did not state it wasnt beneficial....it said that it wouldnt even generate 0.1psi of boost. And it is fact...not a claim. Dont beleive me read up about RAM air, the guy i work with worked with wind tunnels for 5 years.

just a quick refrence to show u what im talking about......

RAM AIR TEST (http://sportrider.com/tech/146_9508_ram/)

if u check the graph they have about halfway down the page. you will see Airbox pressure (millibars) and Speed in MP/H along the bottom. You will also see that at 70mp/h there is still 0 positive pressure in the airbox. at 150mph there is only 32millibars.......sweetf*ckall pressure.

150mp/h = 241.402km/h

1 millibar = 0.015psi........32 milibars = 0.464psi

Ofcourse this may differ slightly with different applications. but on a roadbike which is designed with this system in place, i think it would work much better than with a bit of 3" pipe hanging from the bottom of your bumper.

They also do it when you do ask for a soccer ball filled with toothpaste.
