Ok, this is prolly gonna sound stupid, but I'm sick of my Remote Control for my HU rolling about the car everywhere - is there any simple way I can mount it somewhere, perhaps near the park brake?

You can mount it anywhere you like!!!
Its called velcro and with a lil contact adhesive you put 1 strip onto your console or wherever and then with a lil more contact you put the other strip onto the base of your remote amd PRESTO! it sticks exactly where you want it. As a bonus you can pick it up whenever you want and then just put it back down on the velcro...
.... good luck

Heh, I was quite lucky for my headunit remote, it fits perfectly into a little hole next to my handbrake. As suggested above, a bit of velcro should do the trick.

Yes thank you for the productive and abusive answers, and no, I wasn't the guy who started the fuel cap thread.
First off, bluetac won't do it because I tend to wipe all my interior surfaces down with "polish" (almost Dr. Sheen type stuff if you will) and as a result, nothing will stick to it (which is just the way I like it). My main point of this thread was asking if there was a specific remote control mount that could be bought/constructed. I was thinking something along the lines of a mobile phone holder, small enough for the remote, but not one that fits in the cup holders, something perhaps mounted in the gap between the drivers seat and the console, where the hand brake is.
Thank you for your input and it is duly noted, however I would prefer a little less abuse next time for what I think is a valid question.

lol
yeah if u do wipe down your interior with that stuff, nothing will stick...it becomes a problem when you're trying to blu tac ur tweeters to ur doors to have a listen, and they never stick.
anyway, i've thought about that problem too. there's no place where u can mount the remote, which allows u to keep ur eyes on the road, stops u fumbling around for the damn thing, while still being able to use it on ur headunit.
mount it ont eh steering wheel...uncomfortable, doesn't work on headunit (angle too sharp) keeps ur eyes on the road, rather ugly, probably won't stay there
mount it on the gear shifter area...works, u need to feel around for it, maybe even take ur eyes off the road...and in ur case...it probably won't stick

I SOOO hate HU remotes. I can never memorize it and IMO its more safer to just use the HU controlls while driving.
It would be cool to hack the remote up and solder big buttons on it and install them on the centre console so it looks like the electric window switches :D

Okay guys, goto bunnings, and buy yourself some velcro strips (both sides of it)
you dont need much 20cm max. depending on how long your remote is. The best spot i found to mount the remote is next to my shifter, so it points directly at the HU so I can use it as im driving with my hand near the shifter.. if that makes sense

in all honesty who mounts there remotes anyway ? the headunit is right there about 2 feet away .... why muck around turning the stereo up with the remote when you can do it with the thing on the end of you arm (that would be your hand for those people wondering) ... mount the remote where it's supposed to be ... in the glovebox

go to super cheap, you can buy these nice mobile phone holders that have a soft clamp in them, so whatever size the phone it will hold, if its the width of a motorola V3, it should be fine, go check one out there like $12.
thought that might help

Bit of "caution" re leaving your remote on full display.
Kinda advertises your HU as being worth breaking in for.

not everyone has long enough arms to reach the HU safely :( i got the one with the remote so that i didnt risk accidently swerving the wheel as i lean forward to adjust the volume

Someone needs to go re-do their driving license :P Heh, nah just kidding champ. Still though, I do have trouble understanding how reaching to your head-unit can cause swerving.

I still haven't found a good place to mount my remote so I don't use it, the decks about 30 cm's away so I can reach it easily.

Best remote EVER is still Sony's twiddly knob-stick. :P Good to see they still sell it!

If you have trouble reaching the hu are you only just reaching your steering wheel cant you just move your seat forward? I aint huge and i have no trouble reaching my hu with no leaning forward or anything. Dont wanna sound pompus but it confuses me that its so far away for you.

Depending on your headunit you may want to invest in a steering wheel remote.

eh..the wheel is alot closer than the HU..and i sit fairly close. I can reach it, just not safely enough to justify reaching for it

I only use the remote so Back street drivers can change the tunes or Sound offs.. I am not so lazy that I cannot stretch the extra 7cm from the Gear knob to the Volume or skip
buttons...

Same remotes are great when you have mates who have similar music taste in the back and you dont wanna deal with the hu and just drive but when they dont like your music remotes are EVIL!!!!

mmm still looking for a solution. Thinking the ony viable place is the "coin box" behind the shifter, somehow mounting it in there, since I never use it for anything really. Either that, or right next to the shifter...
Maybe I shoudl just buy a new car with built in steering wheel controls... :D

Thank goodness for MP3.. All Genres of Music on one CD.. Usually all of the songs I like so they ain't got no choice ...unless they bring their own.. Remotes can be a Blessing and a curse all at once..
