Hi all,
I'm hoping someone here can give me some suggestions about a noise in my TJ Magna Advance which has stumped mechanics since I bought it in 2001.
The noise comes from the rear right and sounds like a nut or bolt that is loose, rolling around on the metal in the boot or rear wheel arch? You tend to hear the noise more if there are people in the back (but it isn't confined to then), when you take corners, or brake hard/a little suddenly on a decline. It's not a really loud noise - nothing like the 'bop, bop, bop' of CV joints...it sounds like steal marble rolling around. Freakin annoying.
Obviously we have thoroughly checked the boot for anything rolling around, including checking the spare. We had the guys at Tyrepower check it out when we got new tyres - they couldn't find anything loose. Finally I convinced the mechanic to come for a spin with me today (car was in for 55,000 service) AND I got it to make the noise. Picked it up - they said it was the rear spring touching something else and that they had insulated it and it was fixed. Drove out of the dealership to find - shock horror - the noise is still there. Obviously they didn't drive it.
Any ideas? Anyone else had something similar? Sorry for the long post...
