Checked my mates FORD ED and its only warm..
Looks like the air intake is alot better, is their anyway of improving this on a tr? if so what product(s) and how much?
cheers (I cant believe how hot mine is compared to hes)
comments appreciated

Is ur car actually overheating?
What does the temp gauge read? In the middle?
The radiator is designed to get hot
If anything the fact that its hot is good cos it means it's getting heat away from ur engine where it will do the damage

Nope it runs ok just when on the highway it goes up like once or twice then comes down.
Otherwise it stays in the middle.
I know its designed to get hot - of course - though magna feels to hot where as the ED feels nice (the heats going away faster or its getting better air)

different cars have different cooling systems if you needle is staying about halfway dont stress and leave it it ok.

Hmmm how far up are you talking, if it's still within that middle range you should be fine.
If you've never had any problems with overheating I'd say its within normal tolerances. Different cars are made from different compounds. So different engine blocks will handle heat better than others.
Otherwise drill some vents into ur bonnet :)

Just feels like the magna cooling systems are hopeless, not sure how the 3rd gens are..
Is there anything that can be added on to help cool it down?

You being serious about the drilling?
umm it goes up a quarter above half then comes down almost straight away.. (Never goes to max heat) this only happens about 1 OR 2 times whilst freeway driving (100)

come to think of it mate to be on the safe side give the system a flush
make sure you flush it properly and get the air out or it will over heat drasticly lol

Kidding about the drilling, although an option I doubt the problem is that bad. Thematic fan has a thermal switch, and is just connected up to ur battery.
Car gets hot, fan turns on and sucks air in.
Things are pretty powerful too.
What coolant are you using? Or just water?
Have you actually checked it against another equivalent Magna?

I recently flushed it and changed the hoses.

i just quit my job at a radiator shop......sounds like you could have some blockage in the rad....a falcon rad is very different to a magna rad.... a magna is an upright radiator where as the falcon is a cross-flow rad meaning the rad fins run horizontal rather than the standard vertical.....if anything ..on a hwy run your car should stay rather cool to mid range on the gauge ..... if your fins are blocked with dirt or something this could aslo cause problems..... if you've never had your radiator serviced i recomend u have it done or at least an in car flush.

Clarion Magna

if ur temp gauge is in the middle then thats pretty normal, u gotta remeber all cars are designed to a certain operating tempreture,
be sure to check ur coolant level, also if ur thermostat, thermo fan are faulty then this would cause a significant change in tempreture.
i wouldnt be suprised if ur mates ED does not have a thermstat he probably knows that its going to blow a headgasket if he has one in there lol

did you flush it properly by undoing the heater hose under the throttle body and then fill the cooling system untill water starts pouring out of the disconected hose? them reconnect it and its done.

also just water in your car is VERY BAD.... tap water will corrode any alumiluim component's in your cooling system.... if you want it to last, try and get hold of some distilled od demineralised water....even rain water is better that coolant....is the rad lossing water at all? if it is you should get it pressure tested, should be quite cheap at a radiator shop (natra or whoever).

Nope only pulled off the hoses, let it drain dry , flushed it with the hose , cleaned the old coolant from the reserve....

use only demineralised water with it..
Nope not loosing any water at all - dont need to refill it everyday
Reserve tank and radiator always on good levels.

well then mate i put it to you.....that you have air in the system huh huh what do you say about that ?
sorry been watching too many cop shows lol
but yeah i made the same mistake and blew a heater hose and a bottom rad hose before i learnt what i did wrong try it and see im not pulling your leg

How can I get rid of this problem????
Im also looking to add something on/in to cool it better.
Mitsubishi just serviced it, im pritty sure they flushed it and did it.

might be an air lock or your thermostat.
some cars are made to run a lot warmer than others.....its too help with fuel vapourisation.
If its a 4cyl TR and its within 2mm of half way on the gauge its fine.

i dont think you really have to worry about it
