Hello guys long time no see. Just fixed my cars head the other weekend.

About a month ago I was driving along when I noticed that it was idling like a pig and it has lost a heap of power, and was blowing a lot of white smoke. OH NO there goes the head. That weekend I ran a compression test and when I saw that it was pretty low I took off the head to have a look at it. I could see what looked like a crack in the head and also that the camshaft had been rubbing on the head. When I got it professionally looked at they said that it was unrepairable and that I would need to get a new one.

They said that it was cheaper to buy a new head rather than a recon and with the new ones you also get new valves and valve springs.

So I got the new head and before I put it on I thought that I would have a look at all the sensors before I put it on. When I looked at the knock sensor I saw that the last person who had the car must have cooked it pretty badly because the knock sensor was completely MELTED!( it wasn't me because I haven't overheated it while I've had it) I was to Sprints to get another sensor but they told me that I would have to get a genuine one. Go to get a genuine one and they tell me that they want $220 for one  . So to the wreakers I went to get one for $20.

So After a couple of weekends I got the head on and now it's running great! There's a noticable difference in the amount of power that it makes and although I haven't checked yet, I'm pretty sure that my fuel economy is better.

hello sorry I took so long to reply. My bad. I've got no idea what type of cast it was I could find out for you if you told me what to look for. The new head with new rocker, valves and springs set me back just a bit under $500. Which wasn't too bad considering.

the cast number is on cyl3 on the head, just above the exhaust header outlet. well at least that is where it is on the stock ones.

cheers
