Has anyone noticed there mitsi, prob 3rd gen that it's slow to engage drive, i mean you put it in drive, then after a second or 2, then it starts going, my old common***** never did that and that trans had like 200,000 k's on it, and this car only has 6,000 clicks?

the magna autobox is a piece of shiat... that has been said many times. but if you are taking over a second to engage D then there is likely a problem with your auto. mine definitely takes under a second.

cheers for the reples, can someone please close the thread as the problem was user error not transmissione error, turns out i forgot to take my foot off the brake, hahahaha, as if there would be a problem with a TW VR-X Trans so early on

you mean you didn't know your foot was on the brake and your car wasn't moving because of that? even if your foot were still on the brake and you engaged drive you could still feel a slight push forward as the transmission is engaging the clutch.

I dont know that it would nessisarily have been all operator error. I previously owned a KH (4spd auto) and when i upgraded to my KJII(5spd tippy) one of the first things i noticed was the time it took to engage drive(by comparison)....definatley alot longer than my KH use to. For acouple of times, at first, i would engage into drive wait, listen to the revs, and around the same time as my KH would release my foot from the brake before being jolted forward when it actually engaged. I am use to it now so it doesn't happen, but i have noticed when i go to have work done (eg wheel alingment etc.) when the guys drive it to put on ramps (and i stand and watch to make sure they dont f#@k around :D ) they do what i did originally. I know it is definatley alot slower than my KH was. I do notice it is worse when cold.
