to avoid another 100 page long oil thread i will say,

That will do, oil is oil and generally the more expensive the better dont buy a cheaper brand name, aslong as your oil is clean and not burnt, and the right viscosity ( check your manual ) then your car will be fine.

Always thought Mobil 1 was a bit thin especially for a car with that milage.

I use the Repco Oil that is 15W what ever ,as my Local Repco dealer does Filter and Oil for $24..
I change the Oil and filter myself every 5000k's

I was using the genuine mitsubishi 20w50 oil, and just chucked in castrol magnatec 15w40.. both are good, not overall expensive. But mobil 1 would be the stuff to use I heard.

I am using Castrol Magnetic for my 97TE auto, just hit 170000kms, it runs well.
What the other dude said its true, using More expensive oil does not mean better, those high grade oils are meant for places with lower temps. So do check or ask yourself that.

Hope that helps.

Cheers!

Without sounding rude, its not worth your money putting Mobil 1 in our cars and its not really the most suitable grade. I also run Castrol Magnatec and have found it to be great and it is in our grade range. At first i didnt believe the hype about what it is ment to do being the oil clinging to parts when car is not used. I run it in my wife's 97 Astina and with normal oil you can hear the lifters ticking for first second or so before oil gets up there then they go silent. With Magnatec in it, you dont hear that noise at all when you start it meaning that the parts are already lubricated when you start your car.

Its also not to expensive.

Wow Mobile 1 is pretty expensive stuff. I didnt realise that untill I saw it in the ads. Its still basically a good grade oil, but whether if it really does more than other grades of oil, is a question of how you see it. Again not trying to advertise for Castrol here, but the Magnetic is pretty good enough. From the website of Castrol they explain the different types and grades of oil, I did have the impression that the more Ex the oil the better, but this is due to different requirements from different cars and even environment. Lower temps environment would require a lower number grade meaning better oil. Hope this helps.

Cheers!
