yer carbie sounds like a good start, drinking the juice a bit too much i noticed. nah no flat spot lol turbo can u do that i had an idea of supercharging it, i read in the forums it can be done, yer my motors a 2.6 astron, geez i didnt think people would reply so quick...
Mates got a 2.6 astron and he rebuilt it from ground up you know the usual, flat top pistons port polished etc... geez they go pretty quick.

yer sounds good, when i first got the magna, i have to admit on the outside they look pretty 'square' lol but they are quite a nice car, how much u reckon extractors would set me back and maybe a different carby what do you suggest?
:D

u can get factory extractors from a wreckers, prob set u back 50$ to buy and get them rewelded if cracks at joins.
then i dunno how much to install.
carby, well xf weber is the common upgrade.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing, $290 for the carby, replace jets and get an adapter plate, shouldn't cost more than $380 all up (im only guessing - really have no clue).. :-)

I think RPW had new extractors from $250.
siccness, that is a *** expensive carb

I would say...
Go to the wreckers and get one for 50 bucks, then rebuild it...No more than $100.... lol

yeah sounds good, extractors prob will be first on my list i guess not too sure about carby though, seeing fuel prices and all. will it drink more juice with a diff carby on it?
What size exhaust you reckon around a 2 in or 2.5 all the way through from extractors?

If you do the carby properly it will use no more fuel than stock. Less if the stock carby is rooted.

Hey Guys...Girls.
just wondering, whats the best thing you can do to jump up those Kw???
i bet youll say extractors! but yeah i 'heard' (i dont think its true)
by putting your car on a dyno you cna get up to an extra 15Kw ????
another question what a hot coil? and is it worth getting?
i think its for start up? dont know? anyhow, thanks

dyno is just a tool like a spanner or a shifter. it just helps u tune the car. u could get a cheap as laptop and an Air Fuel ratio meter and hook that up. do a few runs down the street at slight, half and wide open throttle and work out ur fuel ratio. then its just a matter of wat u need to do to add/decrease fuel (which is easier to control than air obviously).
and u dont just go and plug ur stock mitsu ecu into tuning equipment to change the maps. dosent work like that. the stock ecu has stock maps imprinted on it and they cant b changed. that's why there are aftermarket ECU's u need to buy ($1000 upwards) which are designed to take over from the stock management system completely, and each part of the system can be changed or tuned. (parts as in fuel, air, ignition etc)
so no, whoever said u are going to gain 15kw just by going to the dyno either is taking the piss or has no idea.
yes a coil is for "startup" whoever mentioned that lol. ignition is a good word for that too.
cheap mods... search the forums alittle harder. all cars are basically the same. fuel/air is injected into engine, exhaust gases come out. the more efficient u make this process the more power u will get. the same upgrades are pretty much standard for all cars. for example... cheap mods for all N/A cars are ur basic exhaust, extractors, breathing mods (like replacement air filters). then u get more serious and go throttle body upgrades, cams... ecu, fuelling etc etc. so if u read something about an N/A car anywhere, even if its a holden V8 or something... the same mods they do to their cars can be related to the mods u do to a 4cyl magna or something, just on a smaller scale because of less cylinders. the only difference is sizes and how many parts u need. if they put a 3" exhaust on their holden or falcon or something, its because they need it. the larger engines create more exhaust gases that need to be expelled. the 3" piping will provide enough flow for the exhaust gases to escape at a decent rate. a 4 cyl magna wont create as much exhaust gas as a big V8 commy so obviously u would get a smaller exhaust on the magna to keep a decent flow rate of the exhaust gases.
ok im rambling, hope yous can make sense of that

you can get lots of power from a dyno based on what u do with the readout u get, and if u can tune a car, dyno tuning can give u a power increase, yet yeah, and aftermarket ecus 2nd hand can be gotten ALOT cheaper than 1G
