I know front bars is an over-discussed topic, but i have a different question (i hope).

I am wondering which bars (from other makes/models) are the best to be modified to our humble TR/TS? I understand very few people have done it. I am just wondering if anyone knows of any good bodykits for this?
I have been told that skyline ones are good and that 200sx bars can go onto 3rd gen magnas.

Any other thoughts examples? I am starting to look into this as their is a jetspeed in adelaide (yay!).

Cheers,
Cam.

P.S Can SOMEONE lead me in the direction of the "Vanity kit" that i have been hearing about? I have never seen it!!

i think blake was telling me that it was gonna cost $8,000 to get that kit to his front door, seeing it's made in japan. check the US diamante sites, there are some nice TR/TS's running around over there

It's not a one off...it's made in Japan, and yes it costs about 8000 to get over here..and then you have to paint it and fit it.

Much cheaper to get it custom made here...because even after it's over here..there is still no guarantee it will fit.

Ah nice!
Thanks, I like to learn :D

Has anyone got any quotes on how much it would cost to get it custom made here?

=P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ i likes it alot =P~

 Why don't we just see if we can get a custom made one here.... to copy the vanity! Wouldn't still cost $8000, would it?

Thats a nice lookin car all round... i likes.

Cheers,
Cam.

what is it with all you guys wanting the same kits? sure it looks allright but for that sort of money why wouldnt you go to a good body styling company and get a completely custom and individual kit made just how you want and save yourself a hell of a lot of money? to me i thought modifying cars was all about individuallity. i promise you all there wont be one other car in the world that looks like mine when im finished with it, but if people want to copy after thats up to them. i just figure its your car and your money it might as well be your concept and look aswell.

Who do you know that has that kit?

Have you seen that in Australia?

I think not.

Is it wrong for us to like a kit?

Again, I think not.

Also I've had this kit on my mind for years, so it's not like I'm really copying anyone. I dont want this to sound like "I found it first" or anything, so dont take this the wrong way, but why can't we like or want a kit?
And some people cant design a kit off their head (I cant) and so finding other kits is the only way. I wish I had the ability to design a nice kit!

If it's not to your tastes, then fine that's cool. But I dont see why we should have to suffer critisism because of it.

Again, don't take this in offence! :D

No, not really. I modify for performance. When I start earning some money I might start thinking about looks. Even then, it won't be about individuality, it'll be about what looks good.
Fugly showcars are an extreme case of people wanting to be different. It doesn't make sense to me.

The only visible things that set my car apart from thousands of other KR Veradas is no hubcaps and a little sticker under the centre brake light saying "Melbccr cruiser - MiG". And I don't have a problem with this.

well, as for getting a custom job, you need inspiration and the vanity kit is far and away the best kit for a TR magna i have ever seen. I havn't even seen it before this post, so i sure as hell doubt that too many aussies have it. So even if i got an exact copy of that kit (which i wouldn't), at least i can be 100% certain that my car would look awesome, and if 10,000 japanese guys have it, it don't bother me none.

How are we gonna save so much money? A custom job is a custom job, its gonna cost roughly the same, whether you get a "custom vanity" made, or a "custom Cam".

just a reply.

MiG: very true. if i had even a little bit of money id improve performance first :)

i like the vanity kit, apart from the rear bar and spoiler. id love to see a WIDE BODY kit for the tr/ts!!!! that would be killer!!

If I wanted performance I would not buy a Magna for starters LOL
There are Jap cars out there that go like hell for about the same price it would take to get a magna to go reasonably.
I have a Magna because I like the ride, the features and the styling.
With mine although I am going to be doing some engine work most of my mods are and will be cosmetic.
I have had my days in rally and race cars so I am about over the speed thing for now. Might just be me getting old and boring I guess LOL
As for front brat I intend getting the Gen 1 diamante bar with the fog lights grafted into the top half of the verada one so as to keep my park lighjts. should look ok.

The trouble I see with kits AND with one off custom jobs is this: How many of us have full comprahensive insurance? Do you leave your car in the carpark or want to drive on the streets in it? Lets say you just left your car to go grab some items from the store, you come out only to find some idiot has reversed straight into it, there goes the panel work. Now you have to fork out more money to fix it. Even if you have comprehensive insurance does the insurer know about the modifications and have they approved them? There are clauses in the contract you sign that protect them from this and they can just say bad luck you modified it so no insurance for you! Im not saying this to get people down it's just that I have done up a few cars over the years and do my homework on what I can legaly get away with and have approved by an insurance company. How many are aware that if you tint your rear lights and have an accident (even a head on) that the insurer can sa bad luck your cars illegal therefore not covered. By the way this also applies to non standard wheels in some cases.

If you get a kit then you're taking that risk.

Everyone knows that...and if anyone doesnt then they're just plain stupid!

But this isn't discussion about insurance, this is about the availability of front bars for the TR/TS models which, unfortunately, is very low.

Went to SSV yesterday to check out what they hav to offer, which is very low. The designs they hav are really old skool and don't look all that great. i might see if they'll do a skirt kit off a TH or a TJ to suit my TS

-as far as insurance goes, i can't see an insurance company that is going to insure me for a decent amount for the mods that i want to do, so to hell with it anyway.
-as far as the 'risk' of getting hit, that risk applies to every part of your car. If someone crashes into your door or front bumper, you are likely to pay just as much for the repairs/painting of those parts as you are for your flash harry front bar (from my limited experience, anyway).
-"rumour" has it that, in the distant future, certain companies that may have a hand in the caretaking of this site may be looking into possibly making an 'adaptor' kit for our beloved TR/TS magnas. I am unsure of the details or how it would work. Just whispers in the wind.

Cheers,
Cam.
P.S. Thanks for the response guys, keep 'em comin :D :D

don't mean to blow my own trumpet(if only i could)but there is nothing stopping any of you buying some fibreglass and some paint and attacking your bar like this, more pics of the finished product which is on the car , and has already been pranged AND repaired, very soon!!
