As promised... Was up late last night working on these puppies in preparation for this Sundays CAASQ comp at Hectic.
Since the last comp changes include: New Alpine 7998r headunit, new Morel Ovation midbass, new morel ovation ambients, Dynaudio MD100 Main tweeters. Stinger Helix RCA's x 3. Extra sound deadening and sound proofing. Tossing up whether I should go and install my other amp to feed the subs, will depend how busy I am tonight.

Off to Freeway car audio tomorrow to get some RTA time (Real time analyser - to measure frequency response). Hopefully I can iron out any peaks/troughs that I havent been able to pinpoint with my ears. Also need to tweak around with xover points and time alignment, but I'm pretty happy with it all so far. Sounds very solid.

I used Knead it putty to make up the pod. Had to make some minor adjustments to the window to get the most angle out of the pod.
Sounds awesome now, You hardly need any knead it to make it solid as a rock

sweeet!!!

Pretty much exactly what I wanted to do, but I was going to try to do it all out of mdf. Never thought of using putty... would be a hell of a lot easier. hmmmm

Doing mine sat morning, so will let yous know what I come up with.

Tim,
I probably won't be able to make it to this CAASQ meet, I'm hoping to head to Sandown Raceway for the V8 Supercars. Why don't CAASQ plan their dates better? :-) Heh, I hope to catch the next meet :-)

eeeehhh ooooohhhh aaaaahhhh

nice, good work, all u need is to throw some paint at it, and you'll be all set!! why not just paint it with stinger sd paint for the hell of it :P

now..for trying to make the other one that'll look just like it :shifty: Probably won't be as bad as trying to make fg door pods, where u have to make the two of them look identical or u look like an idiot.

Hey guys

I know its messy but I forgot to show some pics with the trim over the top... Which fits exactly.

There is only 3.5 cm b/w the door and the trim so was very hard working out the angle.

The one I have in the pics is an exact replica of the one I made on the right hand side. (one in the pics is for the left hand side.

Wasnt too hard making them the same, just a lot of measurements.

Fluffy stuff is fleece. Put it there over teh deadening to stop any rattles that were happening through contact between the door and the trim. Worked to some extent. Also acts as a bit of sound proofing to stop reflected waves and rattles in the door getting out.

It cant get wet there if you were wondering as the door is fully sealed.

As for painting the mdf baffles, yes I will do this, but it'll have to wait until after Sunday. I may also brace the baffles some more with another tube of kneadit.

I used the all purpose knead it. One tube was enough to do both pods. At a cost of $11, for the knead it, $12 for a huge sheet of mdf.

I had to take off that plastic stopper thing on the back of the window. AFAIK it doesnt do anything as there is another one on the other side which stops the window going too far.

Anyway gotta run... RTA time :)

Oh noes Timmy!

Tell me you havent plugged the bottom holes in your door aswell??!?!

Water still gets in through the top seal of your window! With no where to go its gonna rust up the inside of your door.. and without any air getting in there it wont 'dry' the inner door.

lol Im not a total Noob
The service holes are all sealed. I know the doors themselves get wet, (water pours into all doors when it rains)

The drain holes are still open, but all the holes that allow for any reflections back into the car have been filled up with mdf and deadened with roadkill.

Just went and popped it on the rta, Pretty flat response, but had to turn up my tweets, so now im getting a bit more rca noise. Gonna have to rewire again!

I still have small rattles in my doors at volume, but it's gonna be a ***** to pull it all apart to get into them.

May have to bite the bullet again a few months down the track and deaden over the lot again.

Nope :p my 6" midbass driver - Morel Hybrid Ovation.
