Hey guys... need a little advice.

My 90 TP Magna needs some serious repairs, the timing chain is very worn and i beleive the idler chain has snapped (causing a vibration, not to mention other unrelated oil leaks etc)

Now... while im saving up enuff funds to have it repaired... I still need to drive it to and from work.. however the car runs sooo bad... it misfires, loss of power, coughs, stalls and farts etc! so would this be because the timing chain is very worn putting the timing out? Is there some way i can adjust the timing so that the car runs a little better for a short time.. or wouldnt this work? (over compensate)

any advice would be fantastic... :)

Moved to 1st gen forum for you mate.

I dunno how much that'd cost to get fixed...but Im guessing it wont be cheap at all.

Have you considered another car?

You could try putting in a higher viscousity oil as the timing chain tensioner is controlled by the oil pressure (if the tensioner is not broken yet).

keep driving it & the motor will die the balace chain drives the oil pump doesnt it? no chain no oil do the numbers on what happens next.

either pay some place $320 for the kit or ebay $75

expect about 5 hours labour so $3-400 to fit
