View Full Version : TH "D" globe replacement
I know, might be an easy question but have never done.
On TH Magna what steps are needed to replace "D" globe in instrument cluster? I can see two screws in top of surround so I know they come out but dont know of any clips behind that might break? Anyone advise? Thanks

ok - the two screws in the top get indoen - then you get your fingers inbetween the top of it and the rest of the dash and pull it forward - there are two clips at the bottom of it that will just unclip as you pull it forward - don't pull too far out though - as the dimmer switch / TCL / and trip comp buttons will need to be unplugged
then there is 6 screws holding the instrument cluster in - three on either side - then just pull it off - a bit of firm pressure will be required as it is clipped/plugged in atht eh back - just pull firmly on it forward and it will come out - no wires will be attached.
then turn the cluster over - pull out the bad globe and put the new globe in - easy about a 15 minute gjob after you have done it a few times.

Thanks for that,
You say "then there is 6 screws holding the instrument cluster in - three on either side - then just pull it off - a bit of firm pressure will be required as it is clipped/plugged in atht eh back - just pull firmly on it forward and it will come out - no wires will be attached."
Are the wires at the back of the cluster hard to replug once off?? Any tricks? I know from experince with my old commodore that to reconnect wires, it is a pain in the ass as there is no slack in the wiring

Is the 'D' light on the instrument cluster ever supposed to come on, as in my TE its never come on and I was under the impression that this was the norm :?

no - it is easy to put it back in as there is no loose sockets to plug in - it is a fixed plug - bit like a power point in a wall - once you take it out you will realise - magnas are much easier than commodores or fords!!!
