lol no i'm not talking about the aussie boss subs, i'm talking about American Boss 1000w 12" subs, they look really cool and they look like they're pretty good quality,
Are they any good?

I havent personally heard any of their range, but I have read on a number of forums that it is decent stuff. As far as I can gather its kind of middle of the road in the wide spectrum of audio equipment available. Not at all comparable to aussie boss equipment

Aussie Boss and Import Boss are the same Company but at different Specs..
Strathfield can only get Aussie Boss gear and not the Imports.. Same with Jensen.
In the States Jensen is pretty huge, Down here they are Budget gear...
Try and Stick to more well known Brands... Never go for looks, go for Construction and Quality..
Post up a link to the Subs you like, then we can recommend something more Home Grown...

I agree with most of that, except "stick to more well known brands" as there are a lot of great products out there that aren't as well known as your Alpine, Pioneer, JVC, etc.. Though as magnat said, looks is the last thing you should care about in terms of car audio (maybe with the exception of the headunit), always put quality first. Even if you're on a budget, that doesn't mean you can't pick up a good subwoofer that'll handle your needs with your budget. Go out there and have a few listens, check out your local car audio installation places, make sure you get a listen in a vehicle, as a listen in a retail shop would be entirely different to a vehicle setup.

So is american boss higher specs than aussie boss?
Just that i've heard people say american boss stuff was alright and the fact that the subs look cool is a bonus. I'd never pick looks over quality though, but from the pictures they look to be pretty good quality wise.
Was just hoping someone had some reviews on this stuff.
Also what's a good sub to buy then? I wouldn't wanna pay over $100, gotta be 12", and at least 600 watt max.

Simple rule to live by.
You dont always get what you pay for, but you never get something for nothing (unless you know what your doing)
If its cheap, its going to be crap.
If its expensive, it doesnt always means its going to be good.

TR Envy ive seen some Clarion subs for $99, 12" and there 600W max, they look really beefy too.
have heard these (not loud just at a pi$$y volume) and they sound pretty nice.
i mean for $99 they seem to good to be true
only downside is its a single voice coil

Please please please stay away from Kenwood.
If you want them, I can get these
http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car_entertainment/subwoofers/tsw306c/index.html
for you for $98 each. Usually around the traps at $150+ (no idea rrp but more than likely $180 or more).
You would have to organise freight from me to you (each sub is 7.4kg, allow 8 per driver)
Otherwise let me know you want them, I will have them held for you, and will pick up from syd in 2 weeks.

i know someone who used to work at clarion who said that they're speakers are "cheap sh!t" relabelled, but i've seen those subs on special for $89, RRP $129, dunno how good they are but they look beefy.
Those pioneer ones look alright too, might have to have a think about it :).

Now you are Confusing Kenwood with Clarion..
Kenwood are re-labled Crap..
Clarion have always offered reasonable Quality at a reasonable price.. Kenwood never have...
The Clarion V-NETT subs are up there with the Best of the Budgets subs.
The gives them the Long Throw Sub appearance and with only a reasonable amount of Power will satisfy most of your bass-ic needs..
Shop around and See if you can get a Pioneer sub, as I would Recommend Pioneer over the Clarion but only by the Slightest margin..
Subs to look at in your Budget range...
1. Clarion V-Net PA12S...http://www.clarion.com.au/prod_sp_subwoof.htm
2.JVC CS-GD4300 http://www.jvc-australia.com/products/_products_sub_group_details.asp?ID=1412
3.Pioneer TSW 306C http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car_entertainment/subwoofers/tsw306c/index.html
4.Jaycar 12 inch Subwoofer ( Not Highly Recommended but is the least expensive option)
http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productResults.asp?FORM=CAT
You should be able to Haggle most of these Subs down to your Budget ..
but $100 does not buy alot of Bass, you still have to include Enclosure costs

The original post... The Boss subs are more popular in the states but still not considered 'good'. Each to their own though.

Sorry i shoulda been more clear.
$100 is the budget for EACH sub, buying 2 subs, the sub box is costing me about $80 which is seperate.
I'm thinking i might pick up a couple of those clarion subs if Tim has no objections :P.
