After raising my buget a bit more, i've gone into a bit of a spree, this is the set up i'm looking at so far;
Soundstream SST6.9 - rear
Soundstream Exact 12" x1 sub
Soundstream Xstream XSC.6 Splits
Soundstream Lil' Wonder II LW5.830 amp to power it all
atm, that's setting me back $1600. Now, I was thinking of a $2000 budget, but I don't think that's going to happen. But lets just say around the $400 mark, what HUwould you guys reccomend?

With that sort of quality geat - you are talking about a quality head unit.

Get something with MP3 and THREE 4V PRE-OUTS (you'll thank me later) & possibly time correction also if the budget will allow. I'd be budgeting on $600 for a head unit for that sort of setup.

Look at Alpine which are my personal faves - or JVC which seem to be everyone else's personal faves ATM.

cool, ta i'll look into it. and i got the sub wrong, it was the Exact 12" i was quoted for.
Any more opinions would be good, on head unit and on the set up aswell.

Any particular reason why you're going all out on Soundstream goods? Though, I'm sure it'd sound pretty decent, but have a listen to some other products. Anyways, back to your question, I got me a nice Panasonic Headunit, but I probably wouldn't recommend it to everyone. Alpine seems to be the "go", so have a look at some of their headunits - might want raise your budget a bit for Alpine though.

For the price, it seemed to have everythign i wanted, i'm still doing more research though, this is just the set up i have at the moment. Anything else you could reccomend at that sort of price?

Don't look at anything other then what you can Get from Alpine,Nakamitchi or Eclipse.. With that kind of way cool gear anything else would be an insult...

Ok, after looking around, i've fallen in love with the features of the Alpine CDA-9855R, but it pushes me way over my budget :redface: I've found a few others that will save me a couple of hundred, but they're not 4v pre outs. they got 3 pre outs.
Is 4v pre outs going to give me $400 more value? I could settle for a CDA-9847, or should i go for something like the CDA-9853R?
Oh this is so confusing, hah.
