Ok well the little amp mount that i made is falling to bits and i'm in the process of thinking where to mount them, i've still got them mounted to an MDF board that is lieing flat on the boot floor.
I heard if you mount the amps to the back of the sub box it's not good because of the vibrations? is this true?
I would mount them to the sides of my boot but the BOSS amp is too long :(.
I was thinking maybe a false floor but then i wouldn't be able to get to my spare wheel and if i filled my boot wouldn't that block the amps fans and make them over heat really quickly?

Oh and i'm also in the process of getting a dual sub box made up and buying 2 new subs :).
The back of the sub box will be about in line with the end of the rear struts.

i'll give ya an easy fix.

make up a false floor with a tubbed section for you're amp, so when you lift it up to get ur spare out, it doesn't get damaged. Plus have enough wiring to do this otherwise you'll pull wires out.

place some perspes over the amp and mount 1 or 2 fans in the walls of the tubbed section.

problem solvered.

scrounge through the boot hall of fame for insparation and create to you're little hearts content

i mounted mine to the underside of my parcel shelf. works fine. doesnt waste any room, and its out of sight from potential theives.

Umm.. How can -potential- theives see into the boot anyway...??

I just screwed mine into a piece of MDF and then screwed the MDF into the back of the ski port... Easy fix... Just gotta figuire out a way to mount my sub now.....Hmm

lliiiiike when u open your boot in the shopping centre and have bright-arsed neons shining out while you're trying to put your groceries in??

see if u have any bolts or holes in the boot..make a metal frame, or find a steel plate etc etc use your creativity for mounting your sub.
if you're stuck u could always empty out a cartridge of liquid nails under your sub box  :bowrofl:

Please tell me your amp is not mounted upside down ??

Mounting an amp upside down causes excess heat on the circuit board as hot air rises..
Heat sinks on the Amp only work when Amps are mounted the Correct way up.

Looks like a Flase Floor is your Best option. Just make it so you can access your spare tyre. With some carefull planning it can be acheived...
Yes Mounting an Amp to a Sub enclosure can Increase the chances of Cracking the circut board through Vibrations.. It is rare but can happen.

actually, i have my amp sitting in front of my 2 subs, screwed straight thru the carpet into the MDF board that sits over the spare wheel compartment......never thought about the possibility of vibrations harming the sub

and yes i am lazy and dont really care what my "install" looks like :P

I used to have my amp mounted under teh parcel shelf but now that i have 2 amps they wont fit. At the moment they're just sitting on a piece of mdf which is on an angle resting against the sub boxes. I'm thinking maybe make a metal bracket that is bolted to the chasis of the car.
Thanks for the ideas, you've gotten my brain ticking :P.

pitty you cant mount the amps on the side. mine are, and although unfinished, it still leaves me enough room to fill my boot up with crap!

once you have the box in position, maybe fixing a piece of MDF on the outside corners of the box (the visible corners), into the corners of the boot (near the tail lights). they will be on a slight angle, therfore, increasing the area in which u need to mount ur amps. this is what im in the process of doing, although im not quite sure how much room u actually need.

in my last car (VP Calais...i know....plz dont judge me..we all make mistakes! ), my amps were on a false floor. if i ever needed to put anything in the boot, i placed a towel over the amps. even though they arent fan cooled, they never over-heated. and if u mount them on ur floor, that means u dont have to haul around everyone else SH*T! BONUS! :P

slyts6 gave me an idea  I know... :P

If you were to put blocks on 4 corners of the sub box, and have a piece of mdf mounted to these 4 blocks, and mount the amp to the mdf, would this still be at risk of damaging the amp cos the corners of the box won't move...

Wouldn't thins mean that you wouln't get the big vibrations through the amp then?

Yeh i was actually thinking of doing something similar to that.
Now all i need is the sub box lol...*waits patiently*.
