Hey guys, back on here again discussing my problems, after learning the hard and expensive way about not wanting SQL bass; it's come time for my hunting down an SPL sub to tend to my bass addiction.

Basically the Type-x on most expensive alpine monoblock can only hit afew notes ever. On my 50-60 mp3 RNB cd it would play 3-4 sounds amazingly with flawless bass and the rest with pissweak bass. Been tuned sooooo many times by different shops and its not going to go any louder for me.

What I will be doing is keeping the MRD-M1005 and changing the sub. The problem is im going to take my car do Alberts (different shop from system purchased/installed/tuned) at which they had looked at my car and spent 2 hours free time trying to tune it up nicely. I got booked in on Tuesday (13th) to look over my sub more closely, and possibly give me a hear of two boxed type r's if im not happy with the outcome. The thing that should be noted here is he said 'listen' to the type r's not trade in like my dodgy car audio shop.

My usual shop who does installs for free, therefore you get what you pay for and thats nothing but just a good price on items. Called them up after going to Alberts and just saying, 'Look im really not happy with my Type-X and i'd been eyeing off your demo 15" Crossfire XT215, is it for sale'. After chatting for awhile he would take my sub off me and replace it with two Crossfire BMF-1228's, which supposidly connected up to the MRD-M1005 would be alot more about what im looking for. He also said I could pay more to get two 15" BMF's but :O

What sounds good in these huge bloody cars, im sick of running around and fiddling with my stereo in order to play most songs to my standard. Will the Crossfires rattle my cabbin and eardrums to **** or do I need to keep dishing out money

I call on the car audio gurus!! Help this n00b find some bloody bass!!!!!!

have you tried repositioning the sub in the boot facing forwards or backwards isnt always the best way, mines mounted on the passenger side facing the driversside.

1x 12" pioneer tsw304c, ported jaycar box, 129.1db. with a really good freq response.

i know some will say 129db isnt that high but given my setup it works extremely well

I read over your post quickly, didnt see a mention of the type of box your sub was in.

The type of box your sub is in (sealed/ported, and ported to what frequency?) is going to make the biggest change in the way the sub responds to playing your music.

When you tune a box, its changing the size of it and the size of the port, so you cant really tune it just by taking it into the shop, they prob just played with the crossover settings for a few mins and left it their for the rest of the 2 hour.

Theirs not a whole lot you can do in 2 hours with just a sub and amp unless you have EQs etc. Even then most of this stuff related to the higher frequencies the sub doesnt play.
Im guessing you have it in a ported box? Try building a sealed box to the recommendations for that sub, and then if it doesnt play like you like then go change the sub, but not before.

What load you running ur amp at...
ur amp is rated at
500W x 1 RMS (4ohm, 12.0V, 1% THD+N)
700W x 1 RMS (2ohm, 12.0V, 1% THD+N)

If its a dual 2 ohm sub then it'll only be getting 500 w rms... Which isn't that much.

yeah, check the size of the box matches the sub....

also, have you looked at the kicker solobaric subs? search for the L7 series....

I was there for the two hours, and yes he was working on it the whole time. It also doesn't matter if you face it towards you. (end up hearing nothing) Its a duel 4 ohm sub and amp is set to 2ohm. Box is a 2 cubic foot SEALED.

i've been looking at buying a couple crossfire 12" subs for a little while now but just been trying to get some dollars together but our audio rep reckons they're winning stuff everywhere ... though even at my cost price the cost of 2 subs and another vr1000d crossfire amp is making my girlie throw hissy fits :(

but i think i'll get them soon enough as i've only ever heard positive stuff about the crossfire gear

Whoa Hold up...
Your Not happy with the Bass from a Type X ???

Either your perception of Bass is way too high or it is not set up properly..
a 10 Inch Sony Xplod sub will fill a Magna's cabin with a tonne of Bass so we really need to look at how you have the Type X Running..

2 Feet Cubed may not be Big Enough .
The Sub should have an Enclosure nearly the size of your Boot..
The Settings on the Amps may be Wrong, what is the sub been crossed over at ???
Do you have the ski Port down when Cranking the sub ??

Is the Cone side facing the Boot or the Cabin ?? Best position is to have the Enclosure close up to the Rear wall directly infront of the ski port with the cone side facing the tail lights.

You may want to get a Custom Enclosure Built for the Type X..This will unleash all its hidden potential...
I would look at getting a 2nd Type X before going to a 15 inch Crossfire...
Two Type X subs in a Large Ported enclosure being Fed the correct power would more then likely rupture a boot seal or make your Boot lid's sheet metal look like a Tsunami with alll the Vibrations...

Sounds like a Phase issue if you are hearing nothing ???
