hey guys

which fuel injector cleaners do you normally use and is it preferable to add them to PULP or ULP?

I got this bottle from a guy - CARTECH, is it any good?

I did a search and found out that a lot of people prefer an ultrasonic clean, what is it and how much can it cost?

Cheers

Don't worry about throttle in a bottle get them properly cleaned either on board or ultrasonic.

Bottle cleaners are good for removing scale and moisture from the fuel system but that is about all mate

its funny you should mention it - only just then made it to a petrol station, filled her up, and plonked in some of the same stuff in case I had sucked up any crud.

no idea if it works but the bottle says "OVER TREATMENT WILL NOT HARM CAR" somehow I found that to be reassuring...

I throw a squirt of Lucas "Upper cylinder lubricant with injector cleaners" thru the fuel tank every once in a while.

Don't really notice any difference from tank to tank - but as I said, I do it regularly, which if these sorts of products actually do anything - I think that is the point. Regular treatment of fuel with 'injector cleaner' = increased likelyhood of not needing a mechanical injector clean, or at least getting better results from your injectors for longer.

As far as I'm concerned it's just a little added piece of mind, and for ~ $35 for a bottle that will treat something like 60 tanks of petrol, from a fairly reputable brand in engine lubricants/additives, it can't be all bad.

All we can tell you is our personal preference. If you want to know that....... buy a bottle of each, take them to a chemical testing lab and and fork out your hard earned cash for a bloke in a white coat to spend all day analysing the ingredients  .

I'm pretty sure everyone will agree that if your fuel injectors are being compromised by build up of scale etc - then there isn't a petrol additive in the world that will clean them! As I said earlier - they are more for peace of mind when used regularly to prevent serious clogging etc. Thats if they do anything at all.

well mate im using NULON fuel injector cleaner atm, and i think theres 2 bottles, they both retail for $9.99 (@Super Cheap Auto) but one is a special promo pack in which it does 3 tanks instead of 2.

anyway i used a bottle of it in the magna and i felt a slight difference, wasnt major, but as black beard said, its not a high price for a bit of reassurance.

well anyway ive only tried NULON so thats my opinion of it, id say give it a go its worth it.

The reason I told you about ultra sonic is that as I stated in the thread the bottle variety has limited uses, cleaning injectors is not one of them.

While ultra sonic is great, infact by far the best, I used to use the wynns onboard to clean the injectors initially as it also removes most of the carbon off the valves and the pistons ( is fun stuff, it self ignites when it hits air) then I would ultra sonic for the injectors and flow test. Having had the equipment myself I used to charge only 10 bucks per injector extra for the ultrasonic.
