Depending where you are, most auto places have reco ones from all head services, saves you getting a s hand one, then doing valves, valve stem seals, crack test and then plane it.

Usually around the 450 mark including gaskets

New blocks too. A complete engine is around $2500 though :(

Can you get a brand new astron 2 from Mitsubishi anymore? Just curious.
I wonder if there are any 16 Valve DOHC 4g54's out there? That thing would be a monster to turbo.

Did they raise the price? I got mine for $1999 back in '02. Nice brand spanking new block straight from the plant in SA :D

Madmagna:
I am in the States, California to be exact.
We dont have any Magnas here but the Starion also uses the 2.6L 4g54 motor and the Magna heads are a ALMOST direct fit with some flow improvements over the OLD Starion design. So I will be needing a contact in Australia for these heads and YES Prefferably ones that have been chacked for cracks. The valve jobs and stems are NO PROBLEM as we will need to change those anyways to out US Spec valves, so machining WILL have to be done to them prior to Installation.
So if you have a specific shop who sells them I will be greatfull for the info.

benau:
Yes I am aware of that option but they are NOT cheap and I was looking for an alternative as I will also have to ship them State side that will definatelly wont be cheap.

Reigns:
As for your Question on the 16 Valve DOHC 4g54's heads, I am almost possitive that there's no such thing, at least not in the US. Its all due to the block configuration. We have a US Member from the Starion Club that is making a 16 Valve DOHC for the 4G54 2.6L but its a long process as he is using an original HKS 16 Valve DOHC head originally used in Motorsports BUT it was a One-of-a-kind and it was for a Naturally aspirated motor.

xMAGNAx:
In reply to your question (socom online on ps2) Unfortunatelly no I dont I am an X-box gamer and mainly on-line with Forza Motorsports and under the gamer tag ( ONE Crazy Cuban ) I tried the Grouch name but it was taken

Again guys thank you for your help and info and keep them comming I am still looking

Thanks Mates

I can get second hand heads for these by the truck load, not tested though unless the extra was paid to test them, most should be ok though as the engines are more worn out than dead from overheating.

In what way are the valves different?

The only hassle is freight and shipping to the US, is costly

Bud

The heads have the following differences...
- Valves are longer due to the Non-Turbo cam that is used on the Magna's
- Cams are also diff as they are Non-Turbo Cams
- Water passages are bigger as the heads have a NEW updated design so these passages HAVE to be welded to the Starion size in order to make them work.
- Rockers are ALSo different as the rockers have a different ratio as the magna's are Non-Turbo runing a non-turbo cam.

So basically all the mofing parts on the head HAS to be thrown away and ONLY the head itself can be re-used with all the turbo head componets PLUS some aluminum welding.

Thanks again
