G'day all music lovers!

ive searched and cant find anything on 7 by 10 speakers, jus wondering if anyone has them and whether it was too much of a challenge fitting them in the 6x9 holes - the reason i want them is my friend has them amped and is the loudest thing ive heard! any feedback would be appreciated

thanks.

Kenwood.

Good Kettles, reasonable food processors. Bad car audio.

Don't buy kenwood. See Sig.

loud does not mean good....

7x10's are crap imho... Speakers should be round :p
For the rear go 6" splits/coaxials or 6x9's (or leave them empty like me :))

Put more energy into ur fronts and ul be a happier man afterwards.

I hate not having any sound coming from the rear, it seems so empty. I know a lot of people want that whole feeling of brilliant, clear, crisp sound like a concert, but damn I need my music coming from all directions, I honestly think it sounds better.

Either way, I do regret the 6x9s, if i had my way I'd stick a set of splits in the rear.

You want 7x10's look at Rockford Fosgate leave Kenwood where it belongs... On the shelf..
The Only reason why Kenwood 7x10's go loud is because you have not experienced a Proper Built 6x9.
Alpine Type S will be a better choice then Kenwood....

Kenwood is Crap.. Has never sounded any good from the get go.. No Kenwood Product sounds good..
Even their Kettles make a Half effort at boiling Water !!!!!!

hmm..much to ponder

i agree that kenwood products are below class but every now and then one of the cheaper and lesser brands brings out a product worth its price (the 7 X 10's are $160), as well as saying that, if money were no problem rockford fosgate would be one of the better choices.

oh yeh and i have decent subs amped :D

Then there is no need to go Kenwont 7x10's
Get your self a decent set of well built 6x9's from a Brand other then Kenwont and you will be fine and be able to out crank your mate..

Like tevion from Aldi ???
Some one actually Remembered them !!!!!!!

The Tevions were a $50 risk which suprisingly enough paid off..

As for the Hatred of all things Kenwood I have explained before and shall again..
Went to a Sound off, Kenwood Equiped Car's gear shorted out and essentially Blew up..
All the people who I know who have bought Kenwood Gear, from Hifi'systems at home through to 4 inch Dual Cone speakers have all had failures unassociated to other brands..

Kenwood Gear amoungst the People I know has a way higher failure rate then any other Brand.. Sure the same could be said for other Brands but the People I know have had more success with SONY and BOSS then Kenwood..
So I make sure others do not sufer the same fate as others I know and tell them to avoid Kenwood... In recent years Kenwood has picked up their Game in the Higher end Decks and Gear , but failures are still apparent..
Example :2 weeks ago I had to go to Canberra to check what the Problem was with a Friends Sound system.. He had Bought 4 inch Kenwood 2-ways, had the gear professionally installed and yet the Speakers he had were Blown...He had the 4 inches for less then 72Hours.. Blown speakers are not covered by Warranty , so Out came the Kenwoods, in went the JBL's and the system has been pumping sweet for the last 2 weeks no worries and the JBL's sound way better.similiar Cost and all..

In car audio, I have had the following kenwood problems:

Car 1: CD player refusing to eject CD. FM tuner intermittenly dying and going to AM. Sub amp blew 3 output capacitors for no apparent reason. Once the HU & amp were replaced under warranty, the voice coil on one of the 12" subs delaminated from the cone! The 6.5" splits also blew within 6 months.
I was actually very close to this car - I used to drive it on many occaisions - it's was my mate's. Another mate installed the components that were purchased new, I tuned it and set gains, eq's etc myself so I am sure everything was right with it. Weare talking checking with multi-meters sure.
This guy then bought Alpine (as I had and still have) and it pumped harder than the kenwood system for not that much more money. He bough a mid-range Alpine CDplayer w/MP3, and complete set of S-Type speakers & V12 amps. He sold the car with it sounding as good as the day I gave it back to him after I gave it back agter the tuning. It basically didn't need touching of the gains or EQ's in that time (slight increase on the sub gains once they had run in).

Car 2: Subs blew after 2 weeks of use. I again set the gains and tuned this vehicle for another mate.

Car 3: A guy I know had a Kenwood CD changer that burnt out the motor in it and stripped all the changer gears out of. We traced it back to about 20 dry-jointed points on the PCB, but by that stage it had metal shavings right throughout the box. It was turfed, and a pioneer changer w/FM modulater thrown in. It is still working perfectly 6 years and another owner later.

Car 4: An ex'es car had a kenwood HU in it. Lost count of the times it didn't eject CDs. Ended up replacing it with a Clarion deck. Never a problem after. The relationship ended shortly after.

Car 5: Cousin's all Kenwood system incinerated his immaculately restored HZ ute. Head unit caught fire when a component (probably a capacitor) exploded. It happened while it was parked in a locked garage, and ignition was off & no key in it. It also caused major damage to the shed.

Car 6: 4 Channel amp driving only 6.5 coaxials in the front & 6x9's in the rear. PCB inside split in two! It ended up shorting out and nearly exploding. Fuses blew everywhere. I saw the aftermath of they guy's car (same Uni as I was at) and swore I'd never use kenwood again.

Many other stories I could tell, most involve blown speakers, and mainly of the coaxial 2-way variety. Heaps of HU's not ejecting/accepting cd's, another one shredded the metal from the moving parts inside and scratched every CD that went into it beyond ever being playable again.

Talk about bad luck..

but until my kenwood amp and 6X9s do anything out of the ordinary..they are staying inside my car.

Problems I have had to fix for Friends..

1. Kenwood CD player Not ejecting. End result Using a Screw driver to open it up only to find The Circuit board on the Eject signal had crack Replaced with Pioneer Entry level.. No problems at all till current date

2.Kenwood Excelion Twister Sub.. Surround Comming off from Speaker cone... Replaced with a Sony XPLOD 12 inch sub... No worries with Bass or Power to date..

3.Kenwood CD Player : Intermitently Changing Volume from Mute to full ball at random. End Result Kenwood CD player smashed on Concrete Due to the Owner getting annoyed with it.. Headunit was sent back several Times Under warranty and kept having the same Problem.
Kenwood Deck Replaced with a JVC indash MP3 head unit Owner Wonders why he bothered with Kenwood After I told him not to...

4. Kenwood 4-Channel Amp... Problem: OverHeating during extended playback resulting in Fuses Blowing...End Result : Owner Checked all wiring and Gains... No problems there.. Decided to use a BOSS amp... No Problems with Heat Since... Extended loud Volume Playback achieved again...

Lets Try Home Hifi..
1. Kenwood Mini System .. 3 Disc Changer Jammed whilst being Demo'd to me by sales man..End Result Me laughing my Head off
2.Kenwood Midi System ... After being told by the salesman my friend and I asked for a Demo on the " Superior Bass Output of the selected Kenwood System. End Result Kenwood System was smoking in store and died shortly after... Ended up buying a SONY LBT XB6 as for Bass it beats all other Midi systems hands down and has not Died even after 10 years of LOud Volume Heavy Bass Cranking...
