you can't be serious? How is the ant. ever connected to the power source of your head unit anyways?

Once I had a friend with the same problem as you... Is the interior light working? From memory, they are hooked up to the same fuse in the kickpanel (unless the car I was lookin at had done a bodgey!). It turned out that he had put something on the bonnet which made the interior light positive wire touch ground on the metal housing against the roof!!!
Of course it could be a miriad of things... just a thought.

What deck is it ???

doing it works... but its not real good... as the antenna's wire (which is the shielding) cannot take the high power/current that your H/U might need
the ground for the antenna is to assist the antenna from working properly, not really there to ground your H/U... i put a 12 guage earth wire to an earth point on my car, fixed many problems of noise, etc too... well worth grounding everything properly

thanks guys i have recently like an hour ago done the mish and took your advice on the 12 gauge thing but i went all out. i put an 8 guage positive cable running from the battery with a 60 amp fuse holder and 8 gauge ground to a main ground point had some gear lying around lol it has fixed a fair few problems i didnt even know i really had a problem my head unit lights dont dim sound is slightly more accurate and i think it is well worth the effort for a half hour job lol thanks for the info
