MAGNA

Hello Everyone,
Whats the pro's and con's against each unit? What one would you purchase?
I'm thinking about going a turbo conversion (on the cheap) and need one of these two units.
From what I understand they both alter the air/fuel ratio of the mas sensor, but does the greddy to ignition timing aswell? What one will I need to do a turbo conversion?
Thanks.

Take the greddy - and get the TFT screen - it looks better than the Apexi - and has more features!!

If you are turbocharging the car, E Manage is the way to go..
Unless you want to look cool with Apexi by having the SAFC and AVCR... maybe add in the RSM with G Sensor... :D

Get the Greddy as the SAFC2 can't do timing unless you get the ITC.
Although SAFC2 looks better and is cheaper.
If you are going to turbo the car you will need timing control.
There are other ECU's you can get too, Unichip, Microtech are both in the same price range. Microtech is full ECU unlike Unichip and E-manage.

Well... if u have the software (which can be purchased) and know how to tune it, you can DIY... I find it a more stable unit than Haltech where there might be problems with cold and warm cranking. But of course, both have pros and cons but I would choose the Greddy anytime.. :)

The G-Reddy is just a piggyback
Haltek is a full ECU replacement ;)

Okay, what is the difference between a Unichip and the G-Reedy? What sees better gains and which is more flexible? I know Unichip needs to be tuned by a Unichip dude.

Greddy lets u tune it anytime you want with the profec controller...and is especially beneficial to VTECS... Too bad Magnas here ain't got it... ah well... MIVEC is just as close as we get to...
The E-Manage will yield more gains definately...

yer, the E-Manage is kinda head to head with the Haltech,
but the haltech has the tiny bit more on top of that

The haltech is completely stand alone, so it's in a different league really.

True True.. BURP!
And also comparing the cost and technicality of the Haltech.. The Greddy Unit outweighs the Haltech too.. :D

The thing i like the most about the greddy V unichip is that you can fit larger injectors into the car, tell the greddy what you have done and it will recalibrate the factory curve to standard to suit the larger injectors and take care of 80% of the tuning especially with turbo cars menaing then onl mild tuning under vacuem and then you can do the majority of tuning on boost and not have idle problems
Unichip cannot do this so you can only go so large wiht the injectors for low boost applications befor eyou run into running rich and ultimatly out of adjustment with the unichip.
The haltehc is a full stand alone unit and is fantastic butr equires more time and money and is really only suitable if you are more than doubling the factory horsepower.
For example we have foudn greddy plus turbo on magna 3.5 up to 10 psi 240kw is great with the greddy.
But above 250kw we are finding the factory computer (not hte greddy) is having a heart attack and looks like we are going to be upgrading to either a Haltech or Autronic system depending upon several options we are looking at now.

I saw one post about Microtech, I would not use one of these disasters on a moped. If you want cheap and relaible for total replacement try Wolf 3D or if they still make them @d, be aware that your car will no longer be EPA compliant either way.

Mitsiman, what about Motec systems? Are they standalone or piggyback? And are they any good?
