Hey all,

I am a new member here and a new car owner. I recently aquired myself with a 91 TR Executive, Auto, 78,000 km. Pics up soon.

I am on my L's so do not have much experience with cars but was wondering if anyone can tell me if they are good reliable cars or if they have a lot of problems. Also where can you buy parts (body kits, lights, handles etc) for them?

Thanks in advance,
W82CIT

Hi,

Welcome to the club! Is it the 4 cylinder or is it V6? On the general the cars are reliable more or less like any others, maybe more, they just get bagged a lot, because their re-sale value is low and they have acquired a bad reputation from the 80's when auto trannies were ****e. TR and TSs are good cars if you service them regularly and change fluids as you should. Depends how it was taken care of by the previous owners. Mine was a former executive car and it got serviced regularly by the company that owned it, so I was sort of lucky. By god those ks of yours are low. Sure they are real?

As for the mods, have a search on these forums here and you'll find things you need (want really :D ) if you are not prepared to spend for new stuff.

Hey,

Thanks for the welcome and info.

I am sure they are legit km as he was the first owner and has service papers and the receipt when purchased the vehicle. He only used it a couple of times a week if that for local trips.

I believe it it a 4 cyl, 2.6.

Thanks again,

Whoa! A bit on the high side, but with those ks it is worth it as you get a car that is going to last you. Anyway I paid $3000 for mine last year but with higher ks than yours.

Yeah, I thought it was worth it as I have not seen one with such low km and it is in excellent condition with minor dents/scratches (as you would expect for its age).

I am planning to modify it so thought I'd buy one with low km and one which will last a long time.

yeah. thats abit high. I got mine few months back for $3k with 139,000 on the clock. I would have forked out 1k plus and get a 3rd gen with higher Ks but thats just my opinion. Dun worry.. this car rocks. I absolutely love mine.

I have read you can only get one off the shelf kit from SSV. Is this correct or can you get one from somewhere else?

Thanks,

thers an off the shelf kit from ssv? i thought most of the kits on here were modifyed versions of kits orginally made other cars, eg. wrx

Yes ssv does have an off the shelf kit, but it's hardly worth the money.
Jetspeed in melbourne have made a couple of nice front bars for the 2nd gen.
Your car sounds nice, i wouldn't say he paid too much at all for such low kms especially if the car is in good condition.
Browse the forums and you'll get some good ideas on what to mod etc.

hi i am much the same as yourself been a nissan man since i started driving and that is alongtime ago. bought myself a tr with 200,000klm on the clock but only paid 1600, needs a coat of paint though. this is the first magna i have owned and absolutely love driving it. economy was a bit on the heavy side for the 2.6 but am now using fpc fuel catalyst and economy has improved quite a bit. yes just love the car but as somebody else said just make sure it gets serviced and looked after.

Mate, good buy, I would pay that happily for a car with that few km on it, after all it is worth what someone is willing to pay.

Being a 91 TR it has to be a 2.6 as the Magna did not get the 6 until 93
