We have a TL AWD and basically the fuel cap keeps on releasing itself. We only really started to notice as it is warming up now and when we get out of the car we get assaulted by a pretty strong fuel smell.

Oh well.... guess its a case of ringing a dealership and getting them to look at it.

Any one got an aftermarket fuel cap they would recommend?

just get the OEM one from mitsu. i had the same problem as you did and brought it down to mitsu thinking it might be a leak from the fuel tank. they checked it out... no problems. when i suggested the fuel cap might be broken, he had a look and sure enough the spring mechanism in it was broken. he said that there wasn't a hazard or the likelihood that petrol will be evaporating ... but i begged to differ. the smell was too strong and if petrol is not evaporating (and along with it $$$) then what is? got myself a new cap for labt $15 ... was expecting it to be at least $50 or something knowing mitsu lol
