Hi guys

Experienced a rather unnerving problem about an hour or so ago at startup. I started my car and all went as usual and as my revs started settling down (as they do on warm startup after the intital hignher revs) and then it just died clean in the ar$e, no shudder, no noise, nothing.....just gone. I was a bit shocked, no warning lights on my dash to indicate problem or anything so i turned the key again and the same thing happened, waited and did it again but just as it started i tapped the accelerator lightly a few times and it was ok....no problems. Has anyone else experienced this before? if they have, did they have the problem diagnosed? what was it? what could it be? Any thoguths would be appreciated. I would contact my local service dept, but justa bunch of drongos.

I had similar problems. Changed the battery and it fixed it.

This is what happend to my sports just after I bought it. The battery is the cause, when this happened I took it back and the mech told us that in the magnas when the battery is on its last legs it can't provide enough power to help the car get it idle settings correct so the cars just dies unless u give it a bit more power hence touching the accelerator.

So I recommend changing the battery asap.

Have the same problem with mine, just dies after start sometimes. Also told it was the battery. Going to get an odyssey or similar sealed battery.

Yup, definately battery

My KJ had a battery replacment not long before I bought it, asked about it, and they said it had a "start - stop" problem and the battery was the cause.......

Thanks guys

This bit about the battery would make sense. Although, when i bought the car in March they put in (supposedly) a new (checked this when i took delivery and it looked new) Black Diamond Battery, surely it wouldnt die that quickly. I have recently purchased a second project car and so the Verada wasn't used for several days over the weekend and then was only used for several short trips (2 and 3 kms) around town. Also the day it happened on was a cold wet day....i think they suck more power in the cold for startup dont they? the battery may have been a little weak after sitting for a while followed by several short trips aroung town.
