hey..im curious as to how others have blocked off,or removed the ERG pipe that runs from your headers,up to the intake plenum after fitting a rpw plenum?

Don't have one (yet?). But I would consider drilling a hole and make a thread in it to fit a socket where u can attach the hose. Check with hydraulic fitting shops for parts.

i want it blocked off, or removed. :)
is it possible to take it right out and plug where it connects to the headers with a large bolt?
at the mo,its just resting aginst the firewall...looks a bit suss with it just hangin there.

Headers? Nothing like that plugs in to headers. U r talking about the PCV stuff - positive crank case ventilation? BTW, it's illegal to plug it, but hmmm.....

do a search
aussie magna, (blake) had a massive thread on it and how he blocked his off

yeah i think its a 22mm nut on the end of it

either get the manifold professionally welded or find a bolt that will fit in it to block it

to block the top of the egr pipe you should see a thin aluminium gasket there...copy that shape and make 2 bolt holes and block it off that way using thin bit of metal

think ill remove it and plug the headers with a bolt...seems like the easiest way.
thanks fellas

would blocking this off make the Check Engine or SES come on?

i've got the rpw manifold as well and its pretty easy.

the return pipe is a very soft metal so all i did was get out the trusty hack saw, cut the end off that used to join to the plenium. I then hit the cut end with a hammer to flatten in, then folded over the end a few times.

This was done off the car of course and does not leak at all. i also filled the hole with maniseal before i hit it flat just to ensure it would not leak.

worked for me, i now have 570Nm at the wheels because of this mod

must of been dyno'd in 3rd gear then ?

i was under the impression only time u can get a ROUND ABOUTS indication of torque at the wheels is in 4th gear ...

jasons is something like 380NM or some thing ...correct me if im wrong

yeah 570nm is a ridiculous claim for a NA magna. If you remember booya's car had 600nm , and that was a completely worked turbo beast.

380 nm is a much more reasonable number for a non-turbo magna though, quite good

later

Does anybody know how much the standard/rpw intake manifold weighs, also the internal diameter of the runners? Most appreciative if somebody can tell me.

dude, thats what the dyno sheet said. its not as accurate as a reading from the engine but its on the sheet and in 4th gear.

Jase when my car was last dyno'd my readout stated i had 556nm of torque at the wheels BUT when my engine was properly dyno'd on a engine dyno (4yrs ago) it made just over 390nm at the flywheel, which as we all know is the most accurate way to dyno anything.

Ya have to remember that when you dyno a car on a chassis dyno your power reading will be lower (due to friction/drivtrain loss) BUT your torque will be higher due to gear multiplication (that includes your diff ratio not just what gear you are in) and your wheels.

All is good

Ah, no such stuff in my -96 3.0 Auto. Bugger. Or better...?

BETTER!!!..more power,better economy,
but more unfriendly emmisions.
dare i say it,if your not a greeny..who cares! i dont think cars not having EGR valves is going to affect the green house effect when you start looking at other things that pollute our atmo.

Our 3 litres dont have egr thank god, but the 3.5's do, and the pipe will plumb to the header collector/manifold and through a steel pipe travel to the intake manifold. Have a look at a 3.5 next time you get near one.

doing some work on the car today round at PhilsTH house, and phil actualy discovered that on the pacemakers,(well mine any way)where the EGR screws into the pacmakers isnt actually drilled out!
so even if it was all connected up,it is effectivly blocked!
...so no need for me to plug it or cut and fold the pipe after all! BONUS eh?!! :D

ohh..and a BIG THANKS to Phil for sorting out the wiring of my paras, and restting the TPS!!!

...i HATE elecrical type sh#t!!

OMFG EGR pipe thats sooo 1970's lol makes me think of old colts with the pipe on teh top of the exhaust manifold or gen 1 magnas

f#ck thats funny
