Can anyone offer suggestions. When starting my v6 TS Magna, it idles at about 1400RPM for ages. Is this normal. I have tried blipping the throttle, putting aircon on, but still idles at about 1400RPM for about 10 minutes first thing in the morning (not quiet as bad upon subsequent start-ups).
My concern is that I read putting car into gear at fast idle is one of the reasons auto trannies fail.
Perhaps there is a circuit for cold start up, maybe using coolant.
Do other TS v6'S do the same?

Most cars idle higher when they're cold this is normal. And yeah it isn't the best thing to have higher revs when shifting into gear, I don't think 1400 would be too bad though should be fine. If it jolts when going into gear then maybe get a mech to adjust the idle or possibly disconnect the battery to reset the ecu.

Has it been serviced lately? I had the opposite problem. When the car was started it sat right on the stall point till it warmed up. Can't remember the reason ( sorry ) but a service fixed it. While on the subject of the TS a good idea is to have your throttal body and censors cleaned, you won't be sorry you did.

When the car is cold, when you start it there is an automatic choke. Im sure you can quickly push the accelerator in and out really fast and it can turn the choke off, but yeah its normal for it to idle that high when its cold. :)

Yes thats normal to run at around 1500rpm,but for 10 minutes no.
Is your thermostat OK,does the car reach normal operating temperature quickly,I have a 1994 V3000 and it warms up in about 3 k or 5 minutes idling.
