Can i ask why you went with sony? Who needs a spare tire anyways... its only more weight  All sony stuff is built on SQ, sony couldnt make a SPL sub if they tried, same as their 6x9's, they lack the bass of the pioneers and the rockfords, but if you have a sub you dont need to worry about that. Should replace that sony sub with a kicker or JL but other than that its a nice install.

go get a life fellas, and stop hijacking my thread

any car will get a ****in high sq/sql if you build it properly, invest tens of thousdands, and do it right the first time

so stop wingin. and prove to me that sony isnt better :)

plus, sony stuff looks good

Dude sony woofers are built on SQ, they have excellent sound repoduction at given power levels( however no louder), they centainly not built for SPL so what else are they built for? They are a typical Japanese woofer. Booya no offence but [quote:95b564c2b2]any car will get a ****in high sq/sql if you build it properly, invest tens of thousdands, and do it right the first time [/quote:95b564c2b2] that statement is very untrue. Speak to a audio dealer who knows his shyt... would like to see any single, yes single sony woofer in any box with any amp get a 141+db reading. In the real world it just doesnt happen, the only woofer that will come close is the new P5 15inch aluminium woofer that you cant get in australia. Go JL or kicker anyday.... JLw0 is rated at 150WRMS, some guy feed it 500WRMS all day everyday and was able to get 142db, sounded excellent and not bad for a SQ woofer.

Wot you need a spare for? Cos i figured booya would do a fair bit of country driving, and you know, spares come in handy if you blow a tyre :p but i dunno, i don't have a degree or anything   :p
just j/kin

i wanted to put mine in my spare well, but, where can i put my spare if i do? wot r u thinkin Booya??!!

indeed to clarify....

sony is quite poorly bulit and hardly built for SQ or SPL, but a bad combination of the two

on the other hand JL is the best sub in the world

i agree tha sony sucks.... but i will have to disagree with the jl statement...
as there are many different types of woofers fo many different applications.... some designed just for sealed enclousres and some ported or some both... some woofers are designed to play very low but the other frequencies like 60+hz they sound very bad....
it depends on what you want the woofer to do depends on which brand you choose.... spl... sq....
if u saying jl is the best all rounder sub..... what about the kicker solabarric they won the sq and spl comp.... jl is good gear for a mid priced system not too sure on the prices of the woofers but for a $600 sub there is no better then the earthqake magma..... but its not the best....... more money you got the better it will sound/thud.

sony look like plastic. sorry =]

I agree with Booya, this thread wasnt to diss sony, it was just to see his setup.

I for one think it looks awesome, nice and neat and if the wires were neatly tucked away behind the amp it'd be a professional install :)

Nice looking install Booya :)

Everyone is going to have their own preference on brands, setups, etc. But in the end, what difference does it make? Once we all get out stereos setup and pumping, we all like our own...we like the way they sound....it doesn't matter what brand it is.

Booya did the install himself...it's something he can be proud of!

berrjona you can not make a statement like kicker are the best. Has in part something to do with the woofer but mainly the box. Box design can make the woofer louder over certain frequency bands ( ported ) or just concentrate on a particular frequency but increase SPL around that frequency ( bandpass ). The amp also contributes to the woofers ability to reproduce sound. People say that JL woofers are the best and that is because yes they are the best alrounder but can be pushed very loud. For SQ would go JL, DD, Kicker, Crossfire, Xtant. For SPL would go Crossfire, DD, Kicker, JL and Xtant. Dude you could have a kicker solo running at 2000WRMS but have it in a crap box and you would get a crap reading. Something to think about.... Crossfire BMFx15c needs 4000WRMS to run at 100%, now that the VR2000d has been released it can be done. Also a single DD 9950 or 9550 or something 10inch hit 169.7db.
