Hi guys, I'm in NZ. I have an Australian esmebled TP Glx Magna Wagon 1989/90

I have been having problems with the water pump. It seems to be leaking through the small holes on the top and bottom - I think its stuffed. After stopping for a while, I have to refill the radiator (how embarassing!)

My question to you is this - can it be pulled apart and have new bearings and seals put in or not.

My other question is can you put another model's water pump on.

I really don't know what to do I'm stuck!

I have been quoted from supercheap to get the right pump it is $80 and from Mitsi it will be $170 (big difference)

That is common with the Magna water pump. I havent looked at a good one for a while, but I dont think there is meant to be a hole in the bottom. I know that when they die there normally is.

The best solution is a new one. $80NZ isnt bad, last new one I got cost me $110AU.

Yeh $80NZ seems like a fine price for a new water pump.

I just got my water pump and timing belt done the other day for $450 all up.
I may have gotten a real bargain. As a timing belt repalcement usually costs around the $400ish vacinity, and seeing as I got my water pump changed too for only $450, im guessing its a bargain! Im not sure of the actual prices as I didnt get a receipt, but I know that they got changed as I just stood there watching the whole process.

All is good!

Oh just stick with the safest bet. Get a new one.

And im not sure if you can interchange water pumps with different models.
