I had to get rid of my magna (tr v6 auto) a few months ago cause it was going downhill with repairs....

it needed:

new suspension (springs and shocks)
new tyres
new valve stem seals
new timing chain
few new pulleys
new cv's
gear box recondition
new cat (no cat makes it sound beefy lol)
and it had a bad oil leak that i couldnt pin point to anywhere..... (that plus the valve stems i was going thru 1 4L container of oil a week)

all up it was going to cost me, so i traded it in and got a vr commondore (berlina) so its got cruise and all the comfy shiznit i wanted... and i gave my stuffed car and told em to take 2 grand off the price which worked.

the only 2 things i didnt like with the magna was front wheel drive and the engine placement... both related to each other, i wonder how well the magna would of sold if it was rwd...

id have to say i do miss it, i rather like the magna's shape and had a few plans for mine...

id still keep dropping in on here as it has alot more interlectual topics to it then all the commodore forums where almost every post there is a half wit abusive comment for no reason normally to do with "my car rips good burnouts".....

but i have already moved my old plans onto the new car lol but it doesnt look as easy....

but take it easy and have fun.

ps. id like to come along to a dyno day so we can see how much of a difference .8L/.3L makes...

I can hardly understand what you're trying to say due to your poor English. What he was saying was, he told them to take $2k off the price of the VR when handing over the Magna. He didn't mean to take $2k off their asking price on his Magna. Their asking price would have probably been less than or equal to $2k.

i told them $2000 off the price of the berlina... they could get magna's for $1500 in good condition... so i think i got them when they got down to what was really stuffed with it :)

in all it would of been more to fix the magna then get a new car... plus i wanted rwd for a change....

i got the car at the average private sale price from a dealer with less km's then the average too... and the only thing that has gone wrong since is my front muffler join broke and i just got a 2 1/2" cat back sports exhaust for $200 to fix it...

and it wasnt 1.4L it was 4L a week... 1 container.... valve stems where stuffed and it leaked....

where i work qld transport do alot of road worthy checks and i didnt want to get fined for everything.....

On paper you may have done well however having been in the trade for many years the berlina would have been priced to allow for a trade in of a pig. Had you walked in with 1500 less cash you would probably driven off in the same car.

it was $2000 off the price plus i didnt pay any extra for on roads and stamp duty and all that.... all up i think i got $2500 off maybe a little more.

i tried talking to them with out trade in and they would only budje to $1000 off

i told them the price plus trade in and i pay no more for anything. they trie to bupm it up 200 but i said that i didnt want to and then they said ok.

they gotta make money too... but i was happy with the price i paid and my dad who was also in the same business for a few years was also surprised with it.

still i miss my magna... too bad i got a lemon of dad's mate with a car yard.....
