well i bought one of these, not instaleld till next week though, but it has 'aux in' on it. now, when i was choosing my HU, i was led to believe that could be used to plug an mp3 player into it.. am i right or did i jsut get a feature i didnt need? :P if it is, how do you do it, cause i didn't notice any input plugs on the front, do i have to get rca to 3.5mm jack cable or soemthing?

The Eclipse has a mode button (the same that switches between radio, cd etc). There is an input called "Aux" usually after the CD input. It is this mode you must select.
As for the cable, Jaycar or Dick Smith have these 3.5mm stereo to 2 x RCA cables.

Cheers. Now, it'd be a good idea to buy this before it gets installed, and tell the guy who's installing it to add it in, or is it simple to add in later?

simple, but u wont get to see track names etc on the HU, and you have to control the mp3 player via the mp3 player, not the HU (well, can change volume on the HU, but thats it)...so if u wanna mess around pressing buttons on ur HU while ur driving, go ahead, i just hope noones beside u!

Yes it has an Aux in but I highly doubt you will need it as that Deck is fully optioned with WMA and MP3 straight off the deck...
The Aux in is via RCA Cables so if you want to play an External Device like aPortable MP3 player you can do so but the RCA to 3.5mm socket will have to be permanently wired to the deck as the Aux in is at the rear of the deck..
That head unit is Pure Excellence... Great choice....
