hi i got a 97 tf exec. but wot i dont got is an owners manual and stuffed if im gonna pay $40 for one. wot i want to know is wot is this little button that is to the right of the steering wheel and has a little drawing of a speedo .... see the pic

Dimmer for your dash lights..
Its a little dial you can move to adjust the brightness of your dash

Well I don't know anything about magna's except what I read on here, But fair chance its to adjust the intencity of the cluster lights when the headlights are on...

yeh thats what i thoght but ti doesn't do nething i looked last nite do u mean the console lights or the dash lights like speedo etc.

the cluster lights.. the ones behind your speedo and tacho..

it will only work when u can see the lights at night with your parkers/headlights on. Try moving the dial then and see what it does.

All teh dials, Ie: Speedo, Tacho etc are in the "Cluster"

have u had an aftermarket cd player installed ??

wen i first installed mine it stopped the dimmer from working..

then i regrounded the cd player and it worked again

well try putting the ground of the cd player some where else and test the dimmer

could not be scrwed lol no way im taking out all the console again took ages and too annoying
it is grounded to the metal brackets its screwed to

I'm wishing I had read this earlier! :D. I just put all my dash back together after painting everything silver.. had the head unit out and everything.. and my dimmer switch has not worked since I put my first head unit in, and even with the second unit, still doesnt work. When I get the chance I'll give it another shot to see if that works. Meh: Thanks for the tip!

Heh my dimmer switch doesnt work either, was wondering what it did. The cd player in it isnt stock so I guess thats why eh? Oh well.

From what i've experienced, some headunits need more than their metal bracket for grounding. I had to re-ground my Pioneer 5750MP to the chassis before it agree to perform properly. And hey... if you managed to remove the centre console before, redoing it should take less than 20 minutes. The pictorial guide from AMC is priceless. Practice makes perfect, mate. :D
