Well I've purchased the Turbocharger for my 6G74 Diamante. It's a Holset HX35 with an internal wastegate. They use a standard T3 inlet flange. For comparison sake they flow like a 60-1 Turbo or in other words 30+ psi and 600+Hp. I surely won't push it that far but at 5-7psi it should get up and going well. Pictures will come as I do the install. I am in the process of moving over the next few weeks but after that the fun begins.

I am just going to drop in a 255lph fuel pump and run an FMU at first. Down the road I am going to drop in larger injectors and most likely run Emanage but for now the FMU will suffice. I will only run 5-7psi depending how the injector duty cycles, EGT, A/f, and so on look with just the FMU and Fuel pump upgrade. If it is not enough I'll just put together a Methanol injection kit. A few friends have had great results and put the kits together for under 200.00. I just won't have the cash for Emanage, Support Tool, Laptop, Harnesses, and so on for a while.

FMU = Basically they are just adjustable fuel pressure regulators. Except as boost comes on it raises the fuel pressure as well. I'll be getting an adjustable unit so I can select the ratio of fuel pressure to boost.

so a rising rate fuel pressure regulator?

are you going with the 1.7:1 ratio? or the insane 14:1 ratio?

Narkus - Yes an FMU is basically a Rising Rate FPR. I have lots of options over here. From 4:1 all the way to 14:1. I am still undecided. I need to do some more research. I am leaning towards an adjustable unit. So I can dial in the exact ratio.

Ralliart - AKKO & Teh Seafood. - That was under 200.00 for the Homemade Methanol Injection kit. Only if I run into heatsoak and fueling issues. I'm sure at low boost levels it will be just fine.

Oh and as for the install cost, that will be free. I do it myself. I have done plenty of Turbo work. I have a VR4 with lots of upgrades and have previosly had another Turbo car as well. Not to mention worked on friends cars also. I am also going to be helping a friend Twin Turbo his 94 Diamante with stock 9b Turbos and manifolds from a 3000GT (GTO) VR4. My total cost should end up around 1000.00 US Dollars for my entire kit, give or take a hundred.

Let us know how it goes, wouldnt mind running 6-7psi through my car, too worried about engine explosion though to do it

Well I got the turbo in the Mail today. It has a 4" Compressor Inlet, 2.5" Compressor Outlet, and a 3" Turbine outlet. It weighs around 30lbs.

I didn't want to post any yet because it is filthy right now but here it is. I'll be pulling it apart and polishing it up soon. Not to mention there is nothing to compare it to. I'll take one next to a CD or something, so you can really tell it's size. What is my power goal? Well I don't really have a specific number. I'll see what it does at 5psi and go from there.

Brady

agreed it is filthy.

I wouldn't mind something cool like that but here in Indiana they charge a lot for custom plates. Plus you have to pre-register every year. Huge pain in the ass. Thats why you rarely see any.

AH ok....Its ain't that much here in SC. Stupid laws. Not worth it I guess. Keep us updated on the project. How much are you gonna spend on the project?

Psshhwhat
22-09-2005, 09:21 PM
It will be right around 1,000.00 to get it installed and running. Then as I upgrade things to run more boost the cost will rise.

i want a set of manifolds!

Psshhwhat
13-12-2005, 11:42 PM
I am not making manifolds, I will be using the stockers. Then build a Y-pipe that connects to them both and joins above the tranny with the T3 Flange there for the Turbo. Since it will not hold the weight of the turbo I will also have a support brace to help support it.

I haven't done much do it though, just started polishing the Compressor housing and took it all apart for a good cleaning. I am also going to knife edge the divider in the Turbine housing as well as Match the inlet and T3 Flange to the gasket. I also got an HKS S-AFR for Fuel Tuning, but have yet to install it. It's winter now and the car is filthy and covered in snow mostly. So I have been working on my Galant VR4 a lot to get it ready for next racing season. Not to mention I have been out riding my Snowmobile since we have snow finally.

Haha, yeah it's fun. Mine is 150hp and weighs 850lbs with me on it. Runs the 1/4 mile in High 10's - Low 11's and tops out at 120mph. Power to weight ratio is that of a supercar or bike. It's a Yamaha Vmax 800 4 Cylinder 2 Stroke. Not to many of them around. So you can see why I have been out on it and not fussing with the cars.

Heres a pic of it with my Diamante in the backround. :)

:shock::shock::shock:

Have you actually tried that?

I have buried the speedo before crossing the lake. As for 1/4 mile, no I personally haven't taken it down a strip. It can be done though. Those are just the stock statistics. It no doubt feels that fast. The speedo moves at the same pace our RPM needle moves when going WOT in neutral. :D

Also to add to the progress of the Car. I just bought a used 3000GT VR4 fuel pump to put in my Diamante. They are good for 180lph or so, roughly 400hp. So that takes cares of the fuel pump, $35.00. Total cost so far is as follows

Holset HX35 Turbo $170.00 (Give or take a few I forget exactly)
Stock 4G63T Blow off Valve - Free, from a friend.
T3 Flange and Gaskets - $30.00
4" Intake Pipe - $20.00
3000GT VR4 Fuel Pump 180lph - $35.00
HKS S-AFR Fuel Computer - $150.00

Total so far - $405.00

Still need

Some piping of various lengths and sizes. I will probably spend a good $200.00 on that.
AFPR - To turn up the Fuel Pressure a little and so it raises 1:1 with boost. $100.00
Used Intercooler - $30.00
Some Couplers - $40.00
BOV Flange and Gasket - $25.00
Oil Lines - $100.00

I am probably forgetting something but thats most of it. For a total of $900.00 bucks.
