Friend of mine has a new car, one thing I noticed about it was how freakin bright the headlights and reverse lights were. Made me think about getting some better lights for my TF. Any sugestions? Cost? Easy to install?

Super cheap auto: halogen globes (30 or 50% brighter?).. bright blue/bluish it says on the box, not really blue but very bright white. Not sure on any more product info, but I have these, brilliant. 30 bucks or so for a pair. On highway driving at night I have to dip the high beams down cuz the reflection off a lot of signs hurt my eyes! Just like lots of odd-balls who dont dip their lights down :D

Okay, got some Plus 50 H4's today
Can someone please explain in simple english, a step by step to changing the bulb? Im sorry to ask this but its clear to me I was just not made to touch cars
I removed the plastic cover thing, then there were 3 little metal clips. I poped them off, then tried to pry the light cover off but it didnt want to budge, and to be honest, I have no idea if thats what im meant to do so I didnt try forceing it.
Do you change the globe by removing the front plastic/glass cover thingy then getting access to it that way? Or do you have to get to the back of the light from the engine bay and do some funky stuff in there?
Photos and clear english would help ALOT.
Thanks guys, and sorry for being a n00b :/
Okay I did some searching, lol it appears that what I was doing was waaaaay off.
If im not mistaken, I need to unclip the wires going into the headlight at the back, then remove that round thing at the back and I should then have access to the bulbs? Too dark to do it now but

have you got your owners manual?? it says in there how to do it...
failing that,
1 - pop the bonnet and open it
2 - unscrew the round plastic things that are over the rubber seals on the back of the headlight
3 - the black square plastic box looking thing that clips onto the globe needs to be unclipped by pressing on either side and pulling back wards - can be a ***** to get off sometimes
4 - then remove the rubber seal that surround the globe
5 - unclip the retaining wire that holds the globe in the ballast
6 - take globe out
7 - put new globe in WITHOUT touching the glass of the new globes
8 - reclip in the globe using the retaining bit of wire thing
9 - replace rubber seal and reclip on the wire connector box to the globe
10 - replace the black plastic donut shaped screw things to seal the headlight and close the bonnet...
pretty sure thats the order, havent changed globes in a magna for a while hope that helps.. and no you dont have to remove the glass or access them from the front of the headlights

If you do touch the glass of the bulb, clean it with a lint-free cloth and some methylated spirits...

Well it took a little over 45 minutes and my hands hurt like hell and my right thumb is cut up, but I replaced my bulbs today :) Thanks for the instructions, would have been lost without them. Hardest part for me was gettiing the clips back on to secure the bulb, was doing it purely by feel so I had no idea where the clip was. Gave my headlight covers a nice wipe down as well. Only test now is to see how they perform at night.
Thanks guys

Lachlan56.
I've fitted 130watt bulbs to my Verada KJ Wagon, along with an extra relay and wiring. Relay coil is wired to old bulb socket and new wiring has 2 new sockets. Lighting power is direct off the battery via an in-line fuse. Cost about $60.... I did the work.
My Verada KL Wagon has PIAA Plasma FX bulbs 80watt/80watt for High/Low and 100watt for high (ordered 130watt) all run from new wiring & relays & fuses direct from the battery. Cost about $160.. I still dont trust auto electricians.. I do my own work.
Both cars have EXCELLENT lighting.
New HID bulbs look interesting though.. 35watt drain with about 230watt light output but cost from $400 to $700 per set.
My TP Magna Elite has same work as does my KF Verada wagon, but it also has a 800watt driving light, dosn't need anything else... about 4k range with that by itself.

Cheers! Happy for your success! Just as I thought, you got sore thumbs and fingers changing them. They are actually very easy but for a first timer, MAN....we learn the hard way! Oh and you could consider changing the parker lights as well they do help to make it brighter in some ways also.

Agreed, however I do admit that HID do look cool in a way but they arent actually as good as normal good headlights. I am one guy who changed from HID back to normal good lights and much happy with it. Not sure if there are others, but I do say that white lights are indeed quite hurting to other drivers and I dont like it when they are directly hitting my eyes.
These HIDs look cool but they pose danger to many drivers and sadly many do not know about these dangers and feel that it is still cool to use them.
