Me and my bro are installing 2 amps in his boot under a false floor. We hooked it all up and after a while the amp powring the sub got pretty warm. Nothin to alarming, but warm.
SO my qeastion is this, is it safe to connect 2 pc fans to to remote wire in parrallel so when i turn the deck on, the fans start up or will i destroy the deck if i do this ?

Oh **** wrong section!! damn sorry mods
Your asking for trouble powering from the 'remote'. It's there as a signal wire, not a power wire. If you want to go from the remote, check that the remote voltage is high enough to turn on some fets, then use the remote to turn on some fets that sink current from the power leads feeding the amps.

you really should be using a relay but ive ran a mini pc fan off of the remote wire all of last summer with no probs i just unpluged it cos it was too noisy
I suggest you use those big low speed low noise fans that pump the same amount of air as the
smaller, higher speed noisier fans. Use a relay hooked up to the remote wire to trigger it on to
draw power from the amp power wire.

interesting cheers for that ill speak to a mate that works at jaycar about a better one then, he suggested to me back when i had it running to use a temp sensor and put it on the amp so when it was hotter it would spin more then when it was colder

Any reccomendations which relay to use?
Any reccomendations which relay to use?
any!
pop into jaycar, dicksmith or whatever, grab a 5pin 12V relay. be a few bucks
don't use ur remote wire to power fans, u must use a relay. I have a relay powering 2 8cm fans and 2 30cm ccfl tubes in my boot install. works a treat, plus u get a cool 'click' sound when it turns on and off ;) lol

The whole purpose of a relay is so that no high currents pass through a switch. A standard 4
pin relay has an in and out that is connected to a switch (or the remote wire in this case) so
that when there is current through it, the coil creates a field which pulls a pin on the inside of
the relay to close the high current circuit which is used to power devices.

You shouldnt even be powering more than 2 amps off one headunit remote line.
Puts extra strain on ur headunit.
Go with the relay option and use your powerlines that you already have

LOL. I know how a relay works. I meant which type/model. BUt thanks anyways :)
