I had a look in the search function but couldn't find anything so I thought i'd do 1. Hopefully it won't take long to install it all ( waiting on speakers and H/U to arrive ), but i'll put up some pics of the tricky bit when I can. Today I'll start off with the centre console removal and if I have time the carpet is coming up too. Wish me luck.

I think the TS would be the same as the TR, changing the h/u is easy takes 15-20 mins. if you've got no rear speakers then its a bastard to take out the flat parts on the doors and the rear seat.

Paint it all as in centre console? I painted mine red (same colour as car). I want to do the non plastic parts in black now, as im gonna go for a black with red highlighs theme. Here's my thread where i painted console Clicky (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22316)

Hey looks real good. I just got the door trims and the bits of plastic that hold down the carpet edges ( to run the wires under ). I also went around and tightened any screws I could find just for peace of mind. No pics yet coz I need new batteries. Car looks like an absolute mess but just ignore that when i put up pics.

What bran of paints/primers did you use?

How many did you need for that job?

Where did you get them from?

Can you PM me/post a step by step guide on how to do it - not the parts removal but -

If I still have light when I get back ( going shopping ) I'll run the speaker/amp/power wires in the car and get some pics of that too.

Did anyone actually remove the back seat to run the wires easier?

yer i took out my seat, its easy.

1. under the front part of the back seat theres two clips one on each side that you need to undo/ pull out. then just pull up the seat, its in 2 pieces.

2. theres a few screws and a bolt holding the back part of the seat on, just take them out and pull the seat up and out.

i can't explain it very well but i hope you understand?

its pretty easy to do.

edit - Fuzzlet if u PM atlas with the paints n stuff u used send me that aswell if u cud, thanx.

Cheers, i'll just pull the seat out then. Sounds less dangerous than what I was thinking and will give me a chance to clean them properly too.

Easier to post rather than sending 2 PMs. That way more people can enjoy the info lol

Obviously remove your interior parts before doing this. I was lucky enough to have spares of everything, so made it easier. I could leave the paint to cure for a while.....Anyway

1) Remove trim parts (duh!)

2) Scrub that plastic! You want to remove all traces of grease. I did this by using a compound called 'gumption'. It works wonders. Dont forget to wear gloves, coz the oilis from your skin will ruin that nice cleaning job you've just dont. Once rinsed, leave to dry completely. I didnt, and ran into trouble because of which. I didnt bother sanding the interior parts, as I wanted the texture to show through the plastic

3) Painting! Put on a pair of gloves, as again, oils from skin can ruin paint job. When applying primer, paint or clearcoat, hold can about 30cms away from plastic, and use a constand motion to paint the surface. Avoid holding the can in the one spot for more than 1/2 a sec, as otherwise the paint will be too thick and shall run, causing you to sand it all back and start from step 2. Before applying the next coat of the same colour, wait until the previous looks touch dry. Obviously, dont touch the paint, coz if it isnt dry enough, then you will leave fingerprints. Before applying the next colour, let the paint cure/harden. I left the primer for 3 days, the red for 5, and the clear coat for 2.

Primer - 2 coats
Red - 6 coats
Clear Finish - 2 coats

Only trouble I ran into was that when the red was wet, it was really sparkly, but once it dried it wasnt, but that wasnt a problem, coz if the sun hit it whilst driving along - ouch!

4) Waxing! I then gave the bits a good wax, to really bring up the shine. It only shines when sunlight is directly on it, but that isnt a problem, as it looks better dark im my opinion.

5) Install trim back in! You should all know how to do that

6) Your done!

Nice, exactly what I needed thx. Could you give details on the paints, brand/where from/ the EXACT same primer you used ( i have had problems with some in the past so i want the 1 that works ). As for my interior redecorating EVERYTHING that needs removal for the stereo is now in my dinning room including the back seat. I have my camera batteries on charge now so some pics will be up 2moro, probably paintshoped so i can point out some finer details. Also thx to KILLBILLY for his " trim removal " post, helped alot as i couldn't find the screw in the handle( the 1 under on an angle ). I got about a week I think till I get my speakers ( 3-4 days ) so I'm gonna start the painting when I get that info.

How did people go about putting speakers in the back? I had a look and the factory speaker holes in the parcel tray are for 6x9's. I'm thinking of getting some 1/4 inch mdf cut to size to fill that gap then cut it to accomodate the new 6.25's, sound good?

What did people use for the front speakers, spacers or pods? and any pics would be good coz i'm still undecided.

I have a wagon, so cant help ya for the rears. (I have sony 6"s in the roof at the back). As for front, i have jaycar splits to go in soon (sony 6"s at the moment), with plywood spacers

get 6x9's I had 6x9's then had 6" pioneers and they sound crap amped up. so im changing back to 6x9's and amping them. U can cut the shape in the carpet stuff to any shape you want. but if you make it 6x9 oval shape theres no going back, i have 6"s in there now and theres gaps from the bigger 6x9 shape cut so i had to fill it up using wood.

I don't plan on amping the speakers just yet only the sub. nah i can't stand 6x9's they sh1t me to tears. The mid-bass 6.25's will provide more than enough sound and bass. H/U should arrive 2moro, buying wiring and wood 4 speakers 2moro also. How do I put pics up as thumbnails? I really don't wanna keep doing it the way i have been. Pics will be up tomorow including 1 of my slashed finger ( won't look as bad coz it will be half healed ). Damn those plastic screw thingys!. I'm considering painting pretty much the whole interior, any colour suggestions? Fluro green is out of the question as I can't afford to import a moulded carpet from america in that colour. The missus was thinking of a sky blue possibly with a white contrast. My original idea was a nice light green with a dark black contrast. Car will be getting painted in a nice black late this year/ early next year.

Is it legal to bleach and die seat belts? or is that deemed as " tampering with a saftey device " ?

Thanks for the help/ideas so far guys.

It is illegal to tamper with Seat belts in any manner..
Bleach can weaken the Stitching...

As for 6x9's I would not be without them and I also have Two 12 inch subs in a Ported Enclosure.. The 6x9's Help Blend in the Deep Throb of the 12's and the 6.5 inch splits I have upfront.. I will never be without my 6x9's again !!!
