Has any one put a triptronic tl on a dyno yet?
I have one but i havent put it on the dyno yet. :doubt:
just wondering what results were.

I understand the curiosity of knowing what your car produces at the wheels, but unless it's an engine dyno the final figure will not mean much. Every dyno will produce a different figure. Not to mention other factors such as temp of engine, temp and humidity of the air on the day..etc.

Dyno's are a good tool for tunning a car and seeing performance differences with modifications as long as the car is dynoed on the same dyno under the same conditions.

But in general a stock auto TL sould produce around 115-120kW on average :P

thats at the wheels obviously, not at the flywheel

I have a triptronic TL with cold air, Hi flow cat and lukey exhust system what should i expect at the drags because i'd hate to run a 16.00. That would be embasing

Wow, that surprises me... I thought it would have been around 130, interesting.

I'd love to know exacting what it does have. I would like to hope it would have 130 at the wheels. That would be awesome :)

My TF is a 3.0L auto and the last time it was dyno'd I got 123.8 kilowatts at the wheels. Ok it has mods, but still unless I was doing a rolling race start, I would get cained from stand still right now by a TL. I just expected more.

Have ran down the strip? What did you get? What mods do you have?

Very embarrassing... I went hopeless down the strip, I have a K&N pod which is not piped so it was sucking in the hot air from the engine, plus very hot track temp and my inexperience at launching I ended up getting 16.2 or there abouts... will try again later in the year or in the new year after I get the EManage retuned and pod boxed and piped... and maybe something else ;)

My engine/exhaust mods: Pacemaker Extractors, Greddy EManage, Redback Cat back sports exhaust, DIY high flow throttle body and the K&N pod filter (good on WOT)

Edit: regardless of my time, it does go hard in the top end, i can give 3.5's a run for their money and some other well known manufacturer brands lol surprised a number of people now... and you get that "but... it's a Magna!!" look lol

Mates and i have made our own 1/4 mile. I can run around 150km between marks. But have'nt actualy run down the proper strip yet.

When my TH sports manual was dead stock it recorded 112kws@wheels (147kws@flywheel), having said that we all know that dynos read differently so my stock reading can only be used as a guide.

Are you trying to burst my bubble? lol

I would hope after around $2000 worth of mods, my TF might be showing some signs of improvement lol but I understand your point.

My TJII exec (155kw version) picked up 116.2kW on a dyno dynamics roller dyno in 2nd gear (4spd tippy/auto). Car was bog stock with about 58,000 well maintained Km's on the clock. By the end of the month - the same car will hopefully put 140+ down at the wheels.

Bog stock TL auto should be producing the same - only difference would be environmental variables.

With the mods you have listed - I would expect you should be able to break into the 14's, but probably not by much.

surprises me too eh

on our sa dyno day the manual vrx's were pulling 120 odd stock, would have thought an auto exec would be far less than that... ah well..

No, not at all. Just saying that your 123.8kW could well be 119kW on another dyno :D

Or it could be 135  lol... I think I need more stickers for extra KW haha

when ppl get dyno'd and they get a good reading they r stoked and belive it ..........if all of a sudden someone else gets a higher reading than them all of a sudden they say "dyno's r to inacurate"

that really ****s me!.. its not so much the dyno figure i get that really interests me its the amonut i improve when i goto the SAME dyno the next time with more mods done.

also .. ill use the "catylitic converter" as an example as its being tal;ked about if a high flow one is of any use,.... critics will say show me a dyno chart that proves it, and then when they have a very clear gain in power they will say " oh well the dyno must have stuffed up"

i think the gate swings both ways so to speak and some ppl belive the dyno if they get a good reading, and if they get a negative result or someone else beats them its " the dyno that was innacurate"

not directed at anyone or even at this forum, just something i have noticed from ppl online and also at dyno days

but really, who cares about dyno figures? :P

I honestly dont understand it. For tuning purposes then dyno's have its use, and i guess dyno days are a bit of fun, but I honestly wouldnt care what my car would pull on a dyno. How much power does my car have? I dunno, its got enough power for a 15.1 1/4 mile, thats how much power its got :)

If/when i do more mods i will just go down the 1/4 again and see what difference its made to mph and ET. That means more to me than a 2.26kW@wheels power increase
