OK, i got a relay switch from dick smith for $6.50. I am pretty sure i know how to hook it up, im just a little worried so ill check with you guys. I dont wanna risk blowing up a $400 deck.

They didnt have any spst only spdt so ill just have to use the one. Im not sure if its 87 or 87a that closes but ill find it out with a globe or something.

Also, for 30c i was told to use ground but this way makes more sense to me or is it safer to always have the switch on the negative ?

Oh yeah, its rated at 30A

86 Ground (to chassis)
30 Positive (To fused lead which goes to battery positive)
85 Switch (to 12v "Accessories" cable which gives 12v when on and 0v when off eg ignition)
87 Active when on (this will go to the positive of ur load eg ur fans)
87A Active when off (if you wanted a circuit that only worked when the accessories switch was off you would use this.

So yes ur numbers are all going to the right leads

Peace

Tim
