Its 5mm polished aluminium with some heatproof engine paint stuff.
It does nothing, just everytime i popped the bonnet the first thing i saw was agreat big set of silver pipes and i thought they looked out of place so i made a cover.

Cool, something different. Have you thought about maybe getting the normal engine cover (covers the front plugs etc) and joining it in somehow???
Do you know the cover i'm talking about?

you mean the bit that says mitsubishi on it? I would like to but today has told me that my metalworking skills are something similar to those of a 2 legged octopus so i have a feeling that its not going to happen......

I personally think the engine covers help with the look of the engine bay. If you get one just remove the sticker and paint it whatever colour or leave it black, up to you.
I think you should have a go at it, can't hurt. Just take your time, plan it out and have fun!!! That's what it's all about. lol

Er is it common practice of AMC members to remove their whole Intake piping or whatever it is, you know that Black bit of pipe that widens out and goes to the front of the bay? I noticed mine today and though "that looks awfully restrictive, I wonder what happens if I remove it" but then thought not. Seeing yours gone, im wondering if I should remove it. It shouldnt really effect filtering should it? Seing as the air is still passing through the filter and all. Would the air being brought in be hotter?

I dunno but i did that, removed the two bottle things behind the airbox and now it sounds puuuurdy :D
Am debating pod or panel at mo as they are roughly the same amount of moneys.
Have higly secret plans to put a cold air feed into the box but sssssh no-one must know

You will be sucking in a lot of hot air... I have a K&N pod hiding in the engine bay... gets damn hot kills low down power and gets dirty faster than if piped properly, which is what I will be trying to do asap. Sounds awesome and I seem to be getting more oompf up hill on WOT, but that's about it at the moment.

wouldn't you now be sucking in pure hot air from the engine bay? and not getting any ram air effect at all?

LOL HyperTF mine is in exactly the same spot all that nice warm air.
Maybe during these holidays i might get some more parts for my CAI.
Though i have lost allllll of the nice POD sound thanks largely to my new exhaust, which is loud at any rpm.

Hey Neil (or anyone with a pod),
Have you thought of using a holoed out stock panel filter housing with a custom rear end box that is big anough to house the pod?

Yeah I have funny enough and I might look into it again. I am aiming to try to draw cold air in from below the engine with piping. The other other thing is the angle of the pod when left in it's settled position... it is too close to the wheel hub area in the engine bay on mine at least... I am going to have to pull it around, towards the engine a bit and secure there... fortunately the pipe is flexible to do this otherwise I would not be able to box it at all.
Cheers

Also if you do, try incorperate the top clips off the stock air-box. It will make getting to the pod to clean it easier and it will look closer to factory as possible :P

whats the deal with bagging the guys engine cover .......... he is asking us about his air induction he is working on!!
most ppl either have their post just behind the bottom of the front bar with a pipe joining all the way into the TB OR ... have a pipe leading from the bottom and feeling air into a pod where would sit in a "stock" car
