So many times I have looked at the mud flaps on my car and debated about taking them off... I think they look ugly generally and mine scrape on speed humps all the time which annoys me. Thinking of doing it this Saturday.
I know it is an odd topic but I just wanted to get peoples opinions... for anyone who has taken them off... are there any downsides? Does it look odd without? and what does it do for spray marks from tyres up your doors?
Am i imagining things or do some people have them on the front and others on the rear and possibly both? Mine are on the front.. :blah:

i took my fronts off. kept the rears. Things get a little bit dirtier up the side but its not that bad. Looks way better IMO too :)

i have mudflaps on front and rear
going to take mine off when it goes in to get colour coding
one guy i called said it costs like $15 for them to take off
for some reason unknown to me.....i took off just my rear ones, as i didnt like the look of em.....but i left the front ones on. Now after doing this i noticed that 80% of 2nd gen magnas i saw had the exact same thign done.
mudflaps are overrated. and colour coded mudflaps just look odd.

I agree with you on that one. My verada came with colour coded mudflaps and they justed looked awful!

I'm definitely keeping mine on. I think they add some class. I just armour-all mine occasionally so they don't look faded.

I took off mine only to notice the strip of paint underneath the mudflaps didn't quite match the rest the car, with residues of glue or what-have-you. I think they've been there for too long. No choice but to put them back on. Sigh...

they look good on a verada if they are colour coded... mud flaps look good on luxury cars... on your car i'd take them off

If your car is lowered take them off. Not hard to remove, you just need to unscrew them and clean up the double sided tape. Mitsubishi deleted them from the sports as the were too low. If I got a Verada sedan and lowered it then the flaps would be removed. I also don't think they do much, my wagon is filthy.

I would leave them on if you have them. If you want to take of any i would only take off the rear ones.....there seems to be heaps more sh!t that spreads up the sides of your car from the frot whereas there is only a small section of bumper for sh!t to go on at the back. If you colour code them only colour code the "moulding" part but leave the flappy part.....if this makes sense, its like and 1 1/2 or 2 inches around the edge. I wanted flaps for my KJ so b4 i traded my KH (which came out of the factory with these fitted) i took the flaps off took them in and had them colour coded only to find, when i went to fit to my car the rear ones are totallydifferent where they join to the car  !!! I have fitted the front ones but am too tight to pay $80 (or whatever it cost for a new set of rears) especially after i paid to re- colour code them....so if anyone has a spare set of rear KJ/TJ flaps lying around :D please PM me. Likewise, if anyone is interested in a set of rear flaps for a KH/TH, pewter in colour, let me know.
And if anyone is colour coding.....it looks heaps better if you get the sprayer to spray the black strip that is not in your duco colour to spray the black in a semi-gloss black finish..........it looks heaps better and wont fade.
.........do you think i am a little obsessed with mud flaps? ok, ok.....i live in a country area and these are a practical addition, and as has been previously said, they look good on luxury cars lol

I've just taken mine off, front and rear, this morning. IMO looks heaps better. The car looks smoother and less "cluttered".
I don't do many k's (19,000 in 2 years) so the issue of stone chips etc. is, hopefully, not a problem. Anyway, l can always put them back on again. It only takes about 20 minutes.

I want rear mudflaps, mine came originally without on the rear. So I do need holes drilled if I want them on.

I couldn't stand the scraping over speed humps so i ended up taking my front ones off as well (funny thing my car didn't come with rears)
no mudflaps makes it look so much better :D

I took mine off the day i got my car lowered (which was also the day i got it). I think it gives the car cleaner looking lines, and it stops it scraping when you go over speed humps too!!!
