My car happens to have a fairly serious leak at the back of the engine somewhere. Took it into Mitsu said it will be a $30 but it will take about 6hrs to change, resulting in a costly operation.

They said they basically have to remove the engine to change it, not sure if this is realistic, they didn't tell me the exact name of it. Wondering whether to go elsewhere to get it done.

So many things have gone wrong with this car... pain in the arse. After like a month of having the car the ECS suspension **** it self just to name something. Worse part is i dont earn much money as im a uni student...... sigh.... woulda been better keeping my old TP.

Those toprange Xis, ECS usually carks it by 50,000km. :doubt:
Everyone just puts on normal struts & be better off.

Do you know which seal, sounds like the rear main seal.....

As for the ECS, the only reason it really went was that the service departments and mecanics failed to raise the car to full height before putting it on a jack or hoist, this will pinch the bags.

The compressor can be replaced for a couple hundred bucks with an aftermarket one.

Is not all that expensive to replace with new struts and springs as most do this anyway.

if its a 4cly it would be either rear main which would take aprox 6 hrs or the water pump drive pully seal whick takes 10 min

If it is a Verada which it would have had to have been to be a Mits with ECS then I certainly hope you have a V6 so ingnore above :D

Also this helps
Location:
Victoria
Current Ride:
1992 KR Verada Xi
Engine Hardware:
3.0L 6G72 SOHC 12 Valve V6
Transmission:
Automatic

There are several places a V6 can leak from,

Top end:
Cam Seals, End Caps on heads, (rh of engine)
Bottom end
Crank Seal, Rear main, Dipstick (where it enters the block) and oil pressure switch.

Rear main is certainly the most difficult and expensive, if this is the case get your welsch plugs changed while the engine is out as well.

Got the car back, they discovered the sump had no seal after pulling out the engine
So they replaced that. They seem to think that was the problem. Lets just hope they were right. Cost me $400
