Heya, Does anyone have the problem with a magna wagon that the spare wheel bay fills with water? I pulled off all the panels and it seems that the water is coming in through the seals maybe? If anyone has had the problem and knows how to fix it could you please tell me!
:tantrum: :tantrum: :bowrofl:

Take off all the panels, get inside and get someone to hose the car. If it leaks you should see it.

Hedgie...

Same problem with KF Verada wago. Spare wheel well fills with water, especially when parked in steep gutter. Local Mitsubishi dealer fixed it, re-sealed rear window glass AND sealed screw holes that hold roof rack to roof. My KJ Wagon seems to be OK and my KL wagon also seems OK.

Hi Hedgie, I have just bought a Verada Wagon recently, I noticed heaps of water in the tailgate area of the car, I took the car to a Novus dealer and told me that Mitsubishi use a rubber back foam to seal the rear side windows and with time they split and water gets in! I gave him $198.00 and two hours and he fixed the problem! it's a very common apparently!
Kind Regards, Frank.

I have the same problem, and when I went about changing my rear speakers, it looked like water was coming in the tailgate somewhere. I think the rear side windows leak too.
Was wondering about this for a while...
Anyone know of ppl in perth who'd fix this?

Yeah very common in the wagons. Side window seals break up and they leak. Rear window is usually ok but worth checking.

Could you do us a huge favour and post a price? I'm sure I'll need to have it done some time.

I was fortunate that the rear side windows leaked after I bought my TH second hand from a Mitsubishi dealer - they had to fix it up!!

This thread isn't too old to revive. Plus I have a question...

I had the wagon windows resealed last week for $60.:)

For the guys to pull the trim out to get the windows out, they pulled off the top part of the tailgate door rubber and I noticed it was filthy and there were dead insects underneath. Today I decided to take it off and clean it up. I noted how it was fitted and put it back the same way after I had cleaned it, but the door wouldn't close like it used to. So I took it off and put it on differently (thinking I'd made a mistake) but the door wouldn't close at all! So I put it back on the right way again, but still the door needs to be forced to shut.

Does anyone have any knowledge and/or experience with temperamental boot seals?

Misquoozy, Tessa? Perhaps you're asking if Hedgie's spare wheel well was filling with water due to leaking windows?

Has anyone replaced a boot seal in a wagon or sedan and found it to be a tight fit or do you suspect I've done something wrong in fitting it?

Maybe I'm the only one here that's ever removed the seal? If anyone ever does do a search for this kind of thing, then mine seems to have finally settled and closes fine - most of the time.

strangely enough, i fit rear side windows to commodore wagons, boot seals to sedans, and i'd say the principal is the same

the side windows are normally only held in by about 15 or so nuts, instead of eurothane like the front and rears. so yes, the weather seals are prone to leaking after so many years (depending on conditions of course)

not sure if theres much difference to fitting the rear seal to a wagon to a sedan, but it is the easiest job i do, and never seem to have any problems, although, they are normally "crimped" once they are rolled on, but that shouldn't effect shutting at all. the only other thing to check is the striker plate, but that shouldn't have moved.

Just a quick post to help anyone who may be searching for this kind of thing...my boot seal has settled in again and we aren't having any problems now.:)

One of our NSW members asked me about the price of getting the rear, side windows resealed. It appears I got 'mates rates' and that the going price for this job is anywhere in the vicinity of $110 - $200.

Hi,
Dusting off this 5 year old thread as my first time post. All of the rain in Sydney over the past week has highlighted a significant leak in my Verada wagon. There is also some pooling in the spare wheel well. Here are some pictures of the damage:

After reading this it seems that it could be one of two things:

Rear side window seals
Water getting through from the roof rack

What do you reckon it is? The window seals look ok, but would be need to be an obvious seal crack?

i had the same problem, even after APPARENTLY getting it fixed 3 times by the same people. my rear right side leaked from the join on the outside where there is a split in the chrome around the window, i say run some water from a bottle or something on the outside and see if it leaked in through that slpit in the chrome

Is common with wagons, remove both side windows, remove the old foam bases seal, use Mastic NOT HARDENING to reseal, re assemble. Have done this countless times to the Wagons

How do you remove the rear windows? Just with a heat gun?

Cheers for the info. I have checked the windows and though the seals look intact, they have come away from the body of the car by about a millimeter or two on both sides. So with the Mastic, is the Sellys N-Mastic the one to go for?

after 3 years of having a damp/wet boot and steamy windows in the wagon...
and after reading this thread
i finally took the side windows out the wagon at the weekend !!! the seals were knackered!!
2hrs later and nearly a tube of plumbers silicone sealant no more damp wet boot or steamy windows... even with all the rain weve had in perth!!
and for good measure (just in case) where the tailgate latch is (looked like a little paddling pool) centre punch and large hammer a hole through the bottom !! no more paddling pool
job done .......
