I have 3 Verada Wagons, KF, KJ, and KL.. all have suffered with badly corroded roof racks, to the point where the paint flakes off leaving the corroded di-cast alloy exposed. These have all been replaced free by local Mitsubishi dealer until warranty expires (I have had them replaced every 12 months on each car) and then I have to pay for new roof racks.

There is DEFINITELY a design problem with them.
Wrong material used...!!
Who uses Di-cast allow in a wet (multi metal) environment anyway. 'Suppose that they are acting like the sacrificial annodes used on boats... Bloody expensive annodes...!!

They are made by ROLA to Mitsubishi Specs.
I tried to buy spares from ROLA, wouldn't sell them to me, have to go through Mitsubishi. ROLA do not make any of their own roof racks out of the same material, but would not comment on the Mitsubishi Spec, other to say that all of the problem roof racks were "made to Mitsubishi Spec...!!!" READ BETWEEN THE LINES HERE...

If anyone else out there has same problems and vehicle is still under warranty, get them changed before the warranty expires. You will have to tell the Dealer to order the FACTORY FITTED roof racks, otherwise you will get the after market ones that don't fit a Verada. ALso insist on the COMPLETE roof rack system being changed.

Good luck.

Yeah had exactly the same problem. Just gave up and painted the coroded bit myself and it seems to be doing the job so far.

If you find an aftermarket option then i will go for it.

Its just like the windscreen wipers. The pin corrodes flaking the paint off after some time. Stupid design with no thought for the metals used.

Mine's going in on thursday for the racks and the rear wheel bearing, noisy, to be looked at. Already had the LH door seals replaced.
