Finally got my new stereo in after some long days and nights :) . First the front splits... Because of the crappy door trims on the TS I was forced to go out on a limb and try something new so I did.

Now before anyone wants to have a laugh at this setup you might wanna sit in the drivers seat and have a listen. Direct sound to the driver/passenger, clear and un-muffled by legs.
Tweeter is pointed to shoot a little in front of the listener as not to be kill the ears with the high pitches.
The head unit was easy once I got some help with colours and a multimeter.

No pics of the rears or sub as yet ( boot still needs a good clean )
Thanks go to.. Mate Dreau, Magnat, the missus, and all the other i can't remember right now

yeah man thats awesome with the in-your-face speaker location. but i guess you would get great sound from that position, so i guess its win win.....just make sure you got a good tint on otherwise it looks like a theive-magnet.
great work though good to see something different!!!

Thats Why Atlas is getting his Security system updated... So he can keep his install.. besides most thieves will not Look at that location for Speakers.

Great idea for the splits dude! i know exactly what u mean about the crappy TS trims.. PAIN IN THE A S S!!
i actually had a set of TS trims that i have fibreglassed up to suit my splits perfectly.. although i found that constant slamming of the doors forced a tiny crack in them..so i just said bugger it and put originals on it.
whats the sound lie out of yours now? is it TOO much coz they are so close to your ears?i guess if they are u can just fade them more towards the rear hey?
oh, was it very difficult to do that? did the magnets foul any part of the door or window or anything??
once again mate... EXCELLENT JOB! good on ya! :D

It took a long while to do the install because of measurements so no the magnets nor depth of the speakers were a problem. I have the speakers set to fade +1 to the rear so that it's not too loud in the front. Sound is GREAT, very " in your face " so it doesn't need to be as loud as most other installs. Thanks for the kind words on my setup.

Comfort isn't a problem as i don't use the A/C so my arm is on the window sill, so no they aren't in the way. We took into count that it may, so the spacers were bought not to intrude on the listeners too much.
Again thx for the support on my " out of the ordinary " install.

Looks good, but wont stage at all. It will have the worst path length difference possible in a car.
Soz dude... But if it sounds good to you then thats all that matters.
General rule when you are off centre from speakers is to keep them as far away as possible to minimise path length difference and get the most out of ur stereo.

remove the map pocket and put the split in that spot, stimulate is correct, but i do admire your courage to go out and hack into your trim without a care!

But I did take alot of care :( I got spare trims sitting in the shed anyway. And the cross-overs ARE there :) but in the door to keep the wiring clean. A modified fibre-glass door trim yet to come????? after I get the car running properly we'll see........

Tim I tend to agree to a point..
Having the speakers where he has them will provide very prominant and a High Sounding un interfered Stage.., I can see no different to having the Woofer down in the door as the distance between the speakers is reduced..
With a Little left side Biased setting on the Deck it should be nice and Centred better then having a Woofer firing into your leg??? Midbass is directional unlike Sub Bass...
I do admit that having the Tweeter mounted that close will compress the Stage but will increase the Point of Source but as Atlas has stated the Tweeter is Firing forward...
I would Imagine having the speaker mounted there would sound more like a set of High Quality Headphones..
I say 10/10 for Creativity
7/10 for Choice of Gear
6/10 for the Quality of the install ( Your boot still needs attention)
And without hearing it I would say it would be a very nice Every day system to listen to...
I say well done...
