nice interior and unique behind that will catch a few looks. front end in the words of dicko: "borin' as bat shiat!". i actually prefer the US galant's frontend with the defined nose bridge better. but overall, handsome car and GREAT improvement over TL :D

What's the deal with the side mirror? It looks a bit....strange?
I quite like it. What I like about the 380 is a lot of the stuff hasn't been done before (the rear end), the side mirrors etc, but it isn't over the top either. It's very unique and original, but not overly done like a Lotus is.
yep it's looking good. i notice the move back to framed windows..

As for the comment about it being boring - it needs to be in Australia, conservative styling sells here. The US Galant style would have killed MMAL for sure.

Yeah it may not be as aesthetically pleasing, but it's more practical having framed windows and if they geuinely believe it's "better built, better backed" than framed windows makes sense and the car would appear to be built better if it isn't making noise etc when driving and also the doors would close to a much nicer sound (less tinny) which would indicate the car to be of better better quality also.

This car is a VR-X or GT. All 380's will have steering wheel controls im told.
I have sat in both a VR-X and a GT and they do have em. They are mounted behind the wheel out of site, to stop u looking down at the bottons and keep your eyes on the road. Its one of the best designs I've ever seen.

My only concern is the size of the mags of the "VR-X or GT" model. It's hard to tell from that photo but they look like 16's. I think the VR-X should have 17's and the GT, 18's.

Nothing wrong with framed windows. Nothing good about them either. Neutral about that feature. I like no frame for look when its down and u open the door, frame for the stability it gives, no shuddering when u got it down a bit and close the door.

Yes has a built in head unit like the BA, the std features are not less than the TL/TW.
Std - cruise control, 4 power windows, elect drivers seat, climate control, 4 air bags and the list goes on.

Yes factory strut bar (like the VR-X Lancer, but not red). The battery is toward the rear of the engine bay, left hand side and the main ECU is behind the left hand headlamp. The battery will be a bastard to replace and I think insurance will go up coz in a smash the ECU will get wiped out. However I think they do crash testing on the right ???

the problem for MMAL is that the 380 will probably be a comprehensively better car then the VZ commodore, and maybe slightly better then the BF too (have to wait for the road tests to know for sure) but holden really has some pretty sexy bits of kit awaiting and alot of pretty special suspension, gearbox and engine stuff waiting with the VE... staying infront of holden when they launch the VE is going to take alot of effort from both ford and mitsubishi

The best strut braces are ones that run back to the firewall and then across to the other shock/strut tower.

But the differance a strut brace will do is different between FWD and RWD cars. Sure it doesn't do anything in normal day to day driving, But I can deffinatlly feel a "small" but very noticable differnce in my car after fitting one. :P
Don't get me wrong it isn't a "wow, man this things on rails" difference. After fittment mid corner bumps tend not to upset the front as much under hard cornering.
But on topic, I think the 380 will look nice. Weather it will be successfull we will have to wait and see. I will most likely not be buying one (but only cuase I want a more sports orientated next car :D )

I have a question. Does the 380 have a fly-by-wire, or computer controlled throttle like the BA Falcon? If so, it would explain the placement of the ECU. It needs to be as close to the motor as possible. The BA Falcon/Territory have theirs near the rear of the bonnet, on the passenger side, which is close enough to the engine to be easily accessed for firmware flashes. Just a thought.
Another thing, how much are these expected to retail for when on sale? The BF Falcon has its pricing out, but the 380 does not. Lastly, is it me, or does the key enter the steeing column, not the dash as with the Gen 2-3 Magnas?
