I'm sorry that's just rediculous. I could put a deposit on a house for that money.

Nothing is ridiculous in the pursuit of Car audio heaven, you just have to be eccentric to want to achieve such a goal and have a Really big Money tree.

One of the most rediculous things i've heard. It's his money tho, if he wants to spend $10 000 on a pair of speakers then so be it. :bowrofl:

Marty owns what is arguably one of the top 3 car audio and installation shops in the country. He writes for Incar... you may have seen it at your newsagent. He is a CAASQ competitor, in one of the higher classes, where sound quality, imaging, and awesome amounts of sound deadening and padding.

Also one of the nicest guys around....he looked at what I had, gave me some tips, explained a few things... then upgraded the gound in my car - for nothing. He knows that I will be getting a decent battery plus some wiring upgrades from him soon.

Marty - I need a Yellowtop plus 0/1GA run to a distro down the back, earthing kit and new battery terminals. I will call ya when ready - the washing machine and dryer died within 2 months of each other, so the Missus says there are more important things than the car ATM.... )

Not to mention that his prices are bloody good.... his cheapest splits start at around $A250 and are comparable to Pioneer splits that cost $450 or so. Actually, he'd say they probably sound better.

So all in all, to call him crazy or mental or whatever is just not fitting. Words I would describe him as might be Genius, Legend, Mentor, and a great role model.

Don't judge him for spending that much on a set of speakers. Other people might spend a million dollars on a boat, or $50,000 on round-the-world first class airfares. You don;t know his fanancial position or his hobbies.

But yes, as the old CommBank ad stated:
"It's your money Ralph". If you want a house, then that's fine. But I find people that tell others that they are crazy spending their own money to be downright rude and highly offensive.

That is a completely different thing. You're comparing a car to a pair of speakers. This guy sees the car as just a mount for the speakers and other equipment. You are into the car, he's into the audio.

Just because he has different aspirations in life than you, do you feel it is alright to critise him?

I think spending $10 grand on a pair of splits for you car to be excessive too....please don't get me wrong.

Even 3 grand (these speakers Marty posted) are way to much for me.... But the logic that is it stupid just because you wouldn't buy them is flawed.

That said, only 1 person on here would ever purchase these - that would be Tim (s_tim_ulate) - but the likely hood of even him buying these would be very very low.

Marty would tell you the vast majority of speakers he does (splits) would be in the $450-$700 category. The fact he stocks or can order stuff like this is telling you that you can trust him for quality, and a good install. And believe me, people of 10 forums (Slivia, WRX, skyline etc) will want to buy these and have them in their car, because they can, they have the cash, and they want to be first with da bling.

Marty looks after lots of forums (I think he is a member of any one you can name, probably about 150 all up... ) and has helped alot of guys on here. It's like badmouthing Booya on here... we're talking members forming a lynch mob to come and get ya.

Please be just a little more careful of what you post. I'll try and cut you some slack after that sermon.

Tims not the only one, I'd buy them too, just have to find where I planted that money tree! Oh and I'd need another 5g's+ for a nice amp to run them, Audison Thesis HV Ventis anyone? http://www.audison.com, $6575 will get you one here in Aus.

I never said that. I said I think it's rediculous(to spend that much money on a pair of speakers). Hence the whole opinion bit. Again, you can choose to take that onboard, or you can choose to ignore it, totally up to you. But don't sit there and go off on a tangent when the context and entire point is misleading and false. I've never bagged out Marty, if he does what you say he does (and I DO believe you) then that's fantastic, good on him! I've got plenty of time for people who help others (i've said that on these forums before) And again, if people want to spend that kind of money on their sound systems, go right ahead! Hey, if I had the money I probably would too!

I'm not trying to start a fight or get on anyones bad side, but I don't like being ripped into for expressing an opinion, you know? Anyway, i've got no issues with you or anyone else here, i'm just here to have a good read and discussion.

Yeah, everyone can drop this now before it starts another stupid argument.

If I told my mum my splits cost 500 bucks she would think thats the most stupid thing ever, whos to argue that she doesnt think thats stupid?

If someone thinks that spending 10G is ridiculous then they have every right to think that, but this guy never said marty was stupid or anything like that.
Personally i could probably think of a million other ways I would spend 10gs on before a pair of splits but then again I envy that guy with a pair of rainbow splits the same way I envy the guy round the corner with a ferrari.

No ones calling anyone names, I think were all a bit too mature for that.

But anyways, how do these splits compare to the home audio utopia be range?

Im quite happy with my $300 boston splits but if i had money I would definately get the $1k ones but yeah. People spend a truck load on smokes, booz, movies, junk food, and other stupid things but hey, you only live once so you may as well live it up and not be stingy. :D

They are nice looking speakers.

Um fellas, I've been reading this thread with interest and do thank you for your kind words but remember compared to splits from some brands like Carva ($49,000.00 - $788,000.00) and Morellion ($249,000.00 - $3,300,000.00) my Rainbows are nothing overly special. :(

Now I saved for ages to afford my splits and this process indeed took a very long time but remember sports stars, movie stars and the like see this as lunch money. The artist formely known as Princes' home theatre is rumoured to be worth over $24 million. *shrug*

:shock: $3.3 million for a set of speakers? Wow! They'd want to be good! lol

Hey, Marty, if you visit this thread again.. how do you find quality increases in (reputable) speakers with cost? Is there a bit difference between $250 splits and $1000 splits, but less difference between $1000 and $5000 splits, or does quality just keep getting linearly (or even exponentially) better as the dollar value goes up?

And, if you heard the $10,000 splits next to the $3.3 million dollar splits would you be absolutely overwhelmed with the improved fidelity or do you need a professional/trained ear to appreciate it?
