Both my brake lights are out, I thought the bulbs were blown so i replaced them, still didnt work.

So must be the fuse, but ive been checking fuses and cant find a blown one.

Its the fuse box under the driving wheel yeah? is the brake fuse the third one from top, right hand column? because if it is, its not blown. :doubt:

umm been a while since i had my TR so its a bit of a memory stretch here but i think the fuse box in the engine bay is where the rear lights fuse is

Have you been doing any home auto electrics?? if so that might be your problem? Installed a new stereo? Otherwise if it ain't a fuse or a bulb.... then your in a world of hurt!

A bit of electrics?
Ive pretty much pulled the whole thing apart, done a full carputer setup bout 5 months ago.

But I never touched any of the cars electrics, only thing I used was power. And cut the ciggie lighter adapter.

Theres a fuse box under the dash and under the hood. (ill check em all again)

other thing you can do is trace the wires back to their source to make sure theres no problem with them

use a test light or multimeter to find where the problem is. Sometimes it can be in the wires running the length of the car other times it can be actually on the tail lights board. check the socket for the lights and give them a light file if theyre dirty, check that the screws holding the wires onto the board are tight and giving a good ground. other possible is it may be your actual brake light switch under the pedal. and the brake light fuse is in the cabin im pretty sure. headlights and dash and wotnot is under the hood with the relays and ignition fusible links.

I had the same prob a while back, the parker light was the prob for me it was connected to the stereo.

Like the above post, get a multimeter or a tester and check the fuse for the brake lights in the engine bay if theres a short then check you stereo.

otherwise take it to an auto elec.

If you globes arent blown and the fuses are good i would be looking at ur Brake light switch.. its located on the top of uf ur brake pedal.. when u put ur foot on pedal the switch comes off and brake lights come on.. id say thats ur problem.. not very expensive replace from what i remember.. $20 or $30 dollars.. i think.. its only simple.. Auto electrician will look at that first..

Good luck.. :D

Fuse is definitely not blown, will have to pull out the multimeter and see where the brake in the circuit is happening, thanks for the tips, will check the brake light switch too.

if its only one of your brake lights not working then its fairly different to what Ascension had/has. just a loose wire for that light socket or bad connection in the socket. As for you problem with the cdplayer thing could you explain that a little better coz i dont quiet understand.

do u think i made a short or something on my 12v run?

everything turns on etc headlights cd player neons cabbin light etc etc

Did you pull out any fuses while you were checking them? If you did you may have disconected the full time power (memory power) long enough to wipe the memory on the CD.

As for the brake lights, you should have a plug on the back of the brake light switch, this should be on the brake lever itself. If it has 2 wires on it short them out with a piece of ordinary wire. If all else is well your brake lights should come on. If they do check the switch is getting power to one of the 2 wires (check from each wire to the chassis) and is hitting the brake lever OK, if thats OK replace the switch.

yeh sounds like youve just disconnected the power to the HU. Ive often thought myself that they shold put a battery of some kind in HU's to save the settings if the car battery goes flat or something.
